# What to use instead of Finviz

Finviz is a free US screener with a $39.50 Elite tier. What replaces the free screen, the real-time half, the export and the backtests it dropped.

The free browser screener most US stock investors start with — 87 filters over NASDAQ, NYSE and AMEX, a market heatmap, and an Elite tier for real-time quotes, custom ranges and export.

## Replacements

*Ordered by how much of the original’s job each one covers, closest first. Paid placement does not affect this order.*

1. [Stock Analysis](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockanalysis.md) — The other free screener that needs no account, with five years of statements and real-time NASDAQ and NYSE prices on the free tier.
2. [TradingView](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/tradingview.md) — A screener attached to a chart, over 50-plus countries rather than three US exchanges; it refreshes itself only on a paid plan, from 12.95 a month.
3. [TC2000](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/tc2000.md) — The real-time half of Elite — real-time scans, EasyScan and alerts on US and Canadian stocks — from 49.99 a month, on a Windows-first client.
4. [Stock Rover](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stock-rover.md) — Where the screen needs history Finviz does not screen on — 10 years of fundamentals and filters on past values from Premium Plus, US and Canada only.
5. [StockCharts](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockcharts.md) — Technical scans, scheduled scans and alerts in a browser, usable from the 29.95 Extra level; CSV download only on the 49.95 Pro level.
6. [Koyfin](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/koyfin.md) — A screen over 100,000-plus securities worldwide with estimates and macro beside it, from 39 dollars billed annually; global fundamentals cannot be downloaded.
7. [Trade Ideas](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/trade-ideas.md) — If Elite's 10-second refresh was standing in for a scanner, this is a scanner that streams events — US stocks only, from 127 a month, no free tier.
8. [Uncle Stock](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/uncle-stock.md) — The backtest Finviz dropped in March 2026 — any saved screen tested over 25 years — plus CSV and an API on Gold, across 79 countries.
9. [Screener.in](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/screener-in.md) — For Indian stocks, which Finviz does not list — a typed query over ten years of NSE and BSE fundamentals, free with an account.
10. [Stockopedia](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockopedia.md) — For UK and European shares — 350-plus ratios and a factor rank on every stock, priced by region from 32 pounds a month, no free tier.

## The product

Finviz is two products. The free screener is the one everybody knows: 87 filters over the
NASDAQ, NYSE and AMEX list, a market heatmap, and quotes Finviz's own FAQ puts one minute behind.
[Finviz Elite](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/finviz-elite) is the subscription on top, and it is the card this catalogue
lists. That card carries the pricing, coverage and limitations, verified against finviz.com on
14 September 2026, and the Elite pricing page still read $39.50 a month or $299.50 a year when we
checked it again on 9 October 2026. Every figure about Finviz below comes from the card.

What Elite sells is not more filters. Both tiers see the same 87. Elite sells the range: 86 of
them carry a "Custom (Elite only)" entry, so a free account picks from Finviz's preset buckets and
an Elite account types its own number. On top of that come real-time quotes from 4:00 AM to 8:00
PM ET, auto-refresh every 10 seconds instead of every three minutes, 100 rows a page instead of 20,
unlimited saved presets instead of 50, 8 years of financial statements instead of 3, unlimited
alerts, and CSV and Excel export.

People look for an alternative for one of five reasons, and they lead to different products:

- **The free screen is enough, but not quite.** Preset buckets instead of a typed value, three
minutes between refreshes, nothing you can download.
- **Elite's real-time half.** The 10-second refresh turns the screen into an intraday tool, but
it is still a list that re-runs, not a stream of events.
- **Backtesting is gone.** Finviz ended it on 26 March 2026. Saved backtests could not be
recovered, and the vendor says no replacement is planned. Most reviews still list it.
- **No API.** The export is an authenticated file download of the current screen. Finviz says it
may not sell raw history, and there is no documented endpoint at any price.
- **US only.** NASDAQ, NYSE and AMEX, with foreign companies present only as ADRs, and Finviz says
it has no plans to change that.

If none of these is your reason, the free screener is still the default this catalogue would
point you to, and the [Finviz vs Stock Rover vs TradingView](https://stockmarketstack.com/compare/finviz-vs-stock-rover-vs-tradingview)
page sets out when Elite is worth paying for.

## What to use instead

**A free screener that is the whole product.** [Stock Analysis](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockanalysis) is the
other site in this catalogue with no registration wall at all. Every filter, every page of
results, five fiscal years of statements and real-time NASDAQ and NYSE prices are free. Pro at
$9.99 a month, or $79 a year, adds history beyond five years, saved screens and one download a day.
Its screener pages refresh once a minute.
[TradingView](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/tradingview)'s built-in screeners are free and cover 50-plus countries, but
on the Basic plan they do not refresh on their own.

**The real-time half of Elite.** [TC2000](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/tc2000) Premium at $49.99 a month runs real-time
scans on US and Canadian stocks with the EasyScan wizard, PCF formulas and 100 alerts. The $24.99
Basic tier has real-time charts but no scanning. [Trade Ideas](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/trade-ideas) is the step past
that: a scanner that streams events as conditions are met, rather than a screen that refreshes, at
$127 a month or $1,068 a year, on US stocks and a Windows desktop or the web. Neither has a free
tier that scans.

**The fundamentals behind the filter.** Finviz keeps 8 years of statements on Elite, but you read
them and do not screen on them. [Stock Rover](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stock-rover) Premium Plus, at $70 a month or
$49 billed annually, screens on 10 years of fundamentals and on what a metric used to be. It
covers US and Canada only, and the free account has no screener at all. [Koyfin](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/koyfin)
puts a screener over 100,000-plus securities next to consensus estimates and macro data. Free
gives you two saved screens. Plus at $39 a month billed annually opens the global universe.

**Charts and technical scans.** [StockCharts](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockcharts) is the browser chart with scans,
scheduled scans and alerts. Extra at $29.95 is the level where scanning is usable, and Pro at
$49.95 adds CSV download and a 5-second refresh. It has no fundamentals depth to speak of; it is
the pick for a reader whose Finviz filters were all in the Technical tab.

**The backtest that went away.** [Uncle Stock](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/uncle-stock) backtests any saved
fundamental screen over 25 years of history, 35 on US stocks. Silver at $35 a month rebalances
yearly, and Gold at $60 rebalances quarterly and adds CSV export, an API and an MCP server.
Its universe is 100,000-plus listings in 79 countries. Prices are not live, and every plan also
shows the vendor's own Strong Buy to Strong Sell verdict beside the data.

**Stocks Finviz does not list.** [Screener.in](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/screener-in) covers NSE and BSE: a typed
query over ten years of financials, free with an account, and ₹4,999 a year for premium.
[Stockopedia](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockopedia) covers UK and European shares with 350-plus ratios and a
Quality, Value and Momentum rank on each, priced by region from £32 a month, with a 14-day trial
that takes a card. TradingView and Koyfin cover both, less deeply.

The other screeners in the catalogue, including the API-shaped ones, are in the
[stock screeners collection](https://stockmarketstack.com/collections/stock-screeners).

## What you give up

**The free tier's breadth.** No other free screener in this catalogue gives you 87 filters, a
heatmap, quote pages and a one-minute delay with no account required. Stock Analysis comes
closest, and it is a fundamentals site first. Of the ten picks, four have no free screen at
all: Trade Ideas and Stockopedia have no free tier, Stock Rover's free account does not screen,
and TC2000's free mode does not scan.

**The price of real-time.** Elite is $24.96 a month on annual billing for real-time quotes
across the extended session. Real-time scanning costs $49.99 a month at TC2000 and $127 at Trade
Ideas. At Stock Rover real-time quotes start at Ultimate, $79 a month billed annually. Moving
for speed almost always means paying more for it.

**One page for everything.** Finviz puts the screen, the map, the quote page, the news and the
futures, forex and crypto pages on one site. Every pick here is stronger at
one of those and missing several. Most readers who leave end up with two products, and the
cheaper one is often still the free Finviz screener.

## Migration notes

**Export your screens and portfolios before an Elite subscription lapses.** Export is an Elite
feature, so once you are back on the free tier the only way out is copying by hand. What comes out
is a snapshot of the current screen, not its history.

**Write your filters down as values, not as preset names.** "P/E Under 15" is a Finviz bucket.
Other screeners compute P/E on different earnings figures, different share counts and different
dates, so the same rule returns a different list. The
[guide to why two screeners disagree](https://stockmarketstack.com/guides/why-two-screeners-disagree) covers where the
differences come from. Expect them, and do not treat them as errors.

**Check the universe before you compare results.** Finviz screens about 11,600 tickers on three
US exchanges, a figure from 14 September 2026. Stock Rover adds Canada, and about 6,000 OTC
tickers on Ultimate. Stock Analysis counts 5,601 US stocks with the country filter set, and
Koyfin and Uncle Stock count 100,000-plus listings worldwide. A screen that returned 40 names on
Finviz can return 400 elsewhere without anything being wrong.

## FAQ

### Is there a free alternative to Finviz?

Stock Analysis is the closest. It runs a screener over US and global stocks with no account at all, five years of financials behind it and real-time NASDAQ and NYSE prices, and charges 9.99 a month only for longer history, saved screens and one download a day. TradingView's screener is free too but does not refresh itself on the Basic plan. Neither one has Finviz's heatmap in the same form, and neither is free of limits.

### Is there a free alternative to Finviz Elite?

Not for the parts Elite charges for. Real-time quotes from 4:00 AM to 8:00 PM ET, a 10-second refresh, custom filter ranges and CSV export are what Elite sells for 39.50 a month or 299.50 a year, and every product in this catalogue that does the real-time part charges for it. If the reason for Elite was export, Stock Analysis Pro at 9.99 a month gives one download a day; if it was real-time scanning, TC2000 Premium is 49.99.

### What replaces Finviz backtesting?

Finviz ended backtesting on 26 March 2026 and says no replacement is planned. Inside this list, Uncle Stock backtests a saved fundamental screen from its 35-dollar Silver plan, with quarterly rebalancing on Gold. A screen backtested over a ranked universe is also Portfolio123's job. TradingView's strategy tester is a different thing — one Pine strategy on one chart, not a screen across a universe.

### Is there a Finviz for India or the UK?

Finviz covers NASDAQ, NYSE and AMEX only, with foreign companies present just as US-listed ADRs, and says it has no plans to change that. Screener.in is the Indian equivalent for NSE and BSE listings and is free with an account. Stockopedia covers UK and European shares and is sold by region from 32 pounds a month. TradingView and Koyfin screen globally from one login.
