# What to use instead of Macrotrends

Macrotrends now meters its free pages and sells Ad-Free and Premium plans. What covers its long fundamentals charts, its price history and its macro series.

The ad-supported site of one-metric-per-page charts — fifteen years of a company's revenue, margins or P/E, decades of prices, macro and commodity series — with paid plans since late 2025.

## Replacements

*Ordered by how much of the original’s job each one covers, closest first. Paid placement does not affect this order.*

1. [ROIC.ai](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/roic-ai.md) — The closest in shape — a free terminal with no account that lays fifteen years of statements and ratios out as tables with charts, and a screener beside it.
2. [Stock Analysis](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockanalysis.md) — Five years of statements, ratios and a market-cap history free and without an account; Pro at 79 dollars a year opens up to 40 years and a daily download.
3. [TIKR](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/tikr.md) — Capital IQ financials with up to 30 years of history on the top plan, a free US tier with five years, and the global coverage Macrotrends lacks.
4. [Koyfin](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/koyfin.md) — The charting half — any fundamental, price or FRED series on one chart against another, across global equities, with ten years of financials from Plus.
5. [Financial Modeling Prep](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/financial-modeling-prep.md) — If you were scraping the pages into a script — statements and ratios over a documented API, five years on the free key and 30-plus from Premium.
6. [SEC EDGAR](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/sec-edgar.md) — The as-filed numbers underneath every fundamentals site, free over JSON with no key — the source to check a chart against when two sites disagree.
7. [FRED](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/fred.md) — The macro half — interest rates, inflation, unemployment and exchange rates as raw series with a free API key, instead of somebody else's chart of them.

## The product

Macrotrends is a free research site run by Macrotrends LLC, whose terms put governing law and the
courts in Seattle, Washington. Its format is one metric per page. A company's revenue, gross margin, EPS, shares
outstanding or P/E each gets its own URL, with a long chart, an annual and quarterly table and a
paragraph of text summing up the latest figures. Around the stocks sit charts of market indexes,
precious metals, commodities, interest rates, exchange rates and economic series. The Internet
Archive's capture of the home page on 17 September 2026 lists a stock screener with over 50
criteria, "50+ years of historical stock price and dividend data", "10 years of quarterly stock
fundamental data", and "100+ years" of inflation-adjusted index, precious metals and economic data.

The stock fundamentals come from Zacks Investment Research, according to the footer of every
stock page. In the Internet Archive's capture of 22 August 2026, Apple's revenue page carried annual
figures from 2011 and quarterly ones from the September 2011 quarter. In the capture of 5 March
2026, Apple's price history page charted daily prices since 1980, "adjusted for splits and
dividends".

**What changed.** Macrotrends started charging in autumn 2025, and we can only date it from the
Internet Archive. On 9 October 2026 every page we requested, including the terms, answered with a
browser check, so this account rests on captures of Macrotrends' own pages.

- **Between 3 September and 1 October 2025**, the terms of service gained clauses on
subscriptions, free trials, renewals and refunds. A revision dated 13 November 2025 moved
payments to Stripe and states, "We do not offer monthly billing."
- **By 15 December 2025** the stock pages carried a "Subscribe Now" button that the capture of 12
  November did not.
- **By August 2026** the stock pages showed an "Unlock Macrotrends Premium" panel offering "40
years of data", "faster, ad-free pages", "unlimited data exports" and full-width charts, with a
seven-day free trial that requires a card. The site's own paywall configuration set a limit of
ten free pages in every capture from February to September 2026, and from April it offered a
  one-day pass for 4.99 dollars.
- **Plans** are Ad-Free and Premium. For a US visitor on 24 August 2026 the configuration listed
96 and 192 dollars a year; other captures show prices in euros and Canadian dollars, so the
figure depends on where you are. We did not see a live checkout.

The email registration prompt, "Register to Continue Using Macrotrends", is older: it is already
in the revenue page captured on 3 September 2025. What is new is the ceiling on free pages, and
that the longer history and the data exports are what Premium sells.

## What to use instead

Macrotrends does three jobs on one domain. Split them, because nothing in this catalogue does all
three.

**A company's numbers over a long run.** [ROIC.ai](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/roic-ai) is the nearest copy of the
format. Its free terminal at a quote URL needs no account and lays out fifteen years of statements
and ratios as tables with charts, with a global screener beside it. [Stock
Analysis](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockanalysis) gives five fiscal years of statements plus trailing twelve months,
annual and quarterly, without an account. Its market-cap page charts Apple back to 1998, and Pro
at 79 dollars a year opens 10 to 40 years of financials and one download a day.
[TIKR](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/tikr) runs on S&P Capital IQ financials: five years and US stocks only on the free
tier, ten years and global coverage on Plus at 17.95 a month billed annually, and 30 years on
Ultimate. [Koyfin against TIKR](https://stockmarketstack.com/compare/koyfin-vs-tikr) separates the two terminals.

**The chart itself.** If what you used was a long line of one metric next to another,
[Koyfin](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/koyfin) is the charting tool here. It plots fundamentals, prices and macro series
against each other across global equities, licensing FRED and Trading Economics for the macro. The
free plan holds two years of financials; Plus at 39 a month billed annually holds ten.

**The macro pages.** Macrotrends' interest-rate, inflation and unemployment charts are views of
public series. [FRED](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/fred) holds those series directly, more than 851,000 of them, free with
a key. [Pulling an economic data series](https://stockmarketstack.com/how-to/pull-an-economic-data-series) covers how.

**Numbers in a spreadsheet or a script.** Copying Macrotrends tables into a spreadsheet is what
Premium's exports now sell, and scraping them breaks the terms.
[Financial Modeling Prep](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/financial-modeling-prep) serves statements and ratios over a
documented API, five years on the free key and 30-plus on Premium at 59 dollars a month billed
annually. [SEC EDGAR](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/sec-edgar) serves the as-filed XBRL facts with no key at all, and
every other source here is a reprocessing of them.
[Fundamentals into a spreadsheet](https://stockmarketstack.com/how-to/get-fundamentals-into-a-spreadsheet) and [market cap and
P/E as a history](https://stockmarketstack.com/how-to/get-historical-market-cap-and-pe) walk through both routes.

## What you give up

**The one-metric URL.** Macrotrends' best idea is a page per company per metric that answers one
question — how has this company's revenue moved over fifteen years — without a login and in one
screen. ROIC.ai comes closest. Everything else is a statement table, a terminal or an API you
assemble the answer from.

**Long history at no cost.** Even metered, Macrotrends' free pages carry about fifteen years of
annual figures. On the picks' free tiers, Stock Analysis and TIKR stop at five years, Koyfin at
two and Financial Modeling Prep's free key at five. Only ROIC.ai's terminal matches it without
payment. EDGAR's XBRL facts reach back as far as a company has filed them, but as filed rather than
standardised.

**Prices, fundamentals and macro under one search box.** Macrotrends puts a century of precious
metals prices, inflation-adjusted index charts and Apple's margins on one domain. Splitting that across Koyfin, FRED and
a fundamentals site is more capable but no longer one bookmark.

## Migration notes

**Expect different numbers for the same line.** Macrotrends' fundamentals come from Zacks; TIKR and
Koyfin license S&P Capital IQ, Stock Analysis mixes suppliers, and EDGAR is as filed. Revenue
usually matches; EBITDA, free cash flow, share counts and anything "adjusted" often will not.
[Where research terminals get their data](https://stockmarketstack.com/guides/where-research-terminals-get-their-data) names
the suppliers, and [why two screeners disagree](https://stockmarketstack.com/guides/why-two-screeners-disagree) explains the
definitions.

**Check how a price history is adjusted.** Macrotrends says its price history is adjusted for
splits and dividends, so a 1980 Apple price on it is not the price anyone paid. Tools differ on
whether they adjust for dividends at all —
[why adjusted close differs](https://stockmarketstack.com/guides/why-adjusted-close-differs) has the arithmetic — so line up
one known date before you compare a long chart.

**Retire the scraper.** If a script read Macrotrends pages, it now runs into the paywall, the
browser check and terms that prohibit automated access. Moving it to an API is less work than
keeping it alive.

## FAQ

### Is Macrotrends still free?

Partly. Since autumn 2025 the site has sold paid plans, and the paywall configuration in its own pages, captured by the Internet Archive in August and September 2026, allows ten free pages. Above that it sells an Ad-Free plan and a Premium plan, a one-day pass for 4.99 and a seven-day trial that asks for a card. We could not load the live site on 9 October 2026; it answered with a browser check.

### Where does Macrotrends get its stock data?

The footer of its stock pages says the fundamental data comes from Zacks Investment Research. A site built on another supplier, such as S&P Capital IQ behind TIKR and Koyfin, will show different figures for some line items, which is usually a difference in definitions rather than an error.

### Does Macrotrends have an API?

No, and its terms forbid the workaround. The terms of service, last updated on 13 November 2025, prohibit bots, scrapers, crawlers and automated scripts and any use of the content to build competing datasets or train models. For the same statements over an API, Financial Modeling Prep and ROIC.ai sell one, and SEC EDGAR gives the as-filed facts free.

### How much is Macrotrends Premium?

Its pricing configuration, as captured by the Internet Archive on 24 August 2026 for a US visitor, listed Premium at 192 dollars a year and Ad-Free at 96. Prices are set per country — the same file showed euros in April and Canadian dollars in September — and we could not confirm them on a live checkout page.
