# What to use instead of Stock Rover

Stock Rover screens and analyses North American stocks only, with no API and no backtest. What covers its screener and portfolio side, and what you lose.

## Replacements

*Ordered by how much of the original’s job each one covers, closest first. Paid placement does not affect this order.*

3. [Portfolio123](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/portfolio123.md) — The backtest Stock Rover lacks — point-in-time tests of a ranked screen, US, Canada and Europe — from 35 a month to screen and 116 to test.
4. [Finviz Elite](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/finviz-elite.md) — Faster and shallower — real-time US screening, 10-second refresh, portfolios with cost basis and CSV export — at 39.50 a month or 299.50 a year.
5. [Stock Analysis](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockanalysis.md) — The free route — five years of statements and the whole screener with no account, plus portfolios with broker sync; Pro is 9.99 a month.

## The product

We list Stock Rover ourselves, and [its card](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stock-rover) is the full account of it:
plans, metric counts, history depth, coverage and limits, verified in September 2026. Its prices
were re-read on the vendor's plans page on 9 October 2026 and had not moved. This page does not
replace the card. It answers the narrower question a Stock Rover user asks once one of its limits
starts to bite: what else does this job, and what does the switch cost.

Stock Rover is a fundamental screener and a portfolio analytics workspace in one browser tab. The
screener is why most people subscribe: 400-plus metrics at the entry tier and 800-plus at the
top, 150-plus prebuilt screens from Piotroski to Greenblatt, ranked screening with per-metric
weights. The other half is portfolio management through read-only brokerage sync: IRR and
time-weighted returns side by side, Sharpe, beta and drawdown against the S&P 500, rebalancing,
correlation and Monte Carlo, on every paid tier. The tiers sell history and headroom rather than
features — Premium 29 a month billed annually, Premium Plus 49, Ultimate 79, Ultimate Pro 149,
or 34, 70, 99 and 199 month to month.

The reasons a holder looks elsewhere are specific:

- **North America only.** US and Canadian listings plus ETFs and mutual funds. No European or
  Asian stock at any price.
- **No API, and export is metered.** CSV only, at 10, 90, 500 or 2,500 files a month by plan,
and trial accounts cannot export at all.
- **No backtest.** Historical screening on Premium Plus filters on past values; it does not
simulate buying the result and holding it.
- **Real-time quotes start at Ultimate.** Below 79 a month, the plan comparison marks quotes as
  delayed.
- **The entry tier is metered.** Twenty Fair Value and score lookups and ten Stock Ratings a month
outside the Dow 30, and Research Reports as a separate 50-dollar subscription.
- **No tax or realised-gain reporting**, which is where most portfolio trackers earn their keep.

## What to use instead

For Stock Rover set against the two products it is most often weighed with, see
[Finviz vs Stock Rover vs TradingView](https://stockmarketstack.com/compare/finviz-vs-stock-rover-vs-tradingview), which ends
on which reader lands where.

**If the wall is geography.** [Koyfin](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/koyfin) is the browser terminal for global equities —
ten years of financials and consensus estimates from 49 a month, screens over the same universe —
and [TIKR](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/tikr) is the same Capital IQ data with transcripts, from 24.95. Both read as
research desks rather than trackers. [Uncle Stock](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/uncle-stock) screens listings in 79
countries on deep fundamentals. [GuruFocus](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/gurufocus) sells nine regions one at a time.
[Koyfin vs TIKR](https://stockmarketstack.com/compare/koyfin-vs-tikr) splits those two.

**If the wall is testing a screen.** [Portfolio123](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/portfolio123) is built for exactly
this: a weighted ranking system, a screen on top of it, and point-in-time simulations of buying
the top of the list, from 116 a month on the Backtest plan. Uncle Stock backtests a screen with
yearly rebalancing from Silver at 35; GuruFocus includes five-year screener backtests at Premium.

**If the wall is depth of history.** GuruFocus's 30-year financials tab is what its users renew
for, at 549 a year for the US; Stock Rover's 20-year fundamentals are on Ultimate at 79 a month.

**If the screen was the whole use.** [Finviz Elite](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/finviz-elite) is faster and shallower —
real-time quotes, 10-second refresh, CSV and Excel export, eight years of statements for reading —
at 39.50 a month. [Stock Analysis](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/stockanalysis) is the free version of the same idea,
with a screener that needs no account. [TradingView](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/tradingview) fits if you opened the
screener on the way to a chart.

**If what you used was the portfolio side.** That is a different shopping list:
[portfolio trackers](https://stockmarketstack.com/categories/portfolio-trackers), and for dividends and tax lots in particular
the trackers that report realised gains, which Stock Rover does not.

The other screeners are listed together in the [stock screeners collection](https://stockmarketstack.com/collections/stock-screeners).

## What you give up

**Screening and portfolio analytics on one bill.** On Stock Rover the portfolio analytics are on
every paid tier from 29 a month. Koyfin's portfolio analytics and alerts begin at Premium, 110 a
month. TIKR's portfolio is a watchlist with valuation columns and no return calculation. Uncle
Stock calls its own portfolio feature lightweight, with no broker sync. Splitting the two jobs
usually means two subscriptions.

**Brokerage sync on a screener.** Stock Rover links brokerages through Yodlee, with a direct feed
for Interactive Brokers. Koyfin never links your own holdings; TIKR and Uncle Stock do not link
them at all. Among the picks, Stock Analysis syncs brokerage accounts into a portfolio and GuruFocus imports from brokers.

**The prebuilt screen library.** 150-plus named screens — Piotroski F-Score, Altman Z-Score,
Greenblatt, Lynch — are ready on day one. GuruFocus ships its own strategy-named screens; most
other picks expect you to build yours.

**Price per metric.** 400-plus metrics and five years of fundamentals for 29 a month billed
annually is cheap against GuruFocus at 549 a year or Koyfin Plus at 49 a month. Only Stock
Analysis and Finviz Elite come in below it, and both are shallower.

## Migration notes

**Export before the plan ends, and know the meter.** CSV export is capped per month by plan, and
Stock Rover issues no refunds, so do the export in the last paid month rather than after
downgrading. Screens leave as criteria you retype, not as files another product reads.

**The same screen will return a different list.** Two vendors' "free cash flow yield" can be built
from different line items, periods and price dates, and Koyfin, TIKR, Stock Rover and GuruFocus do
not all license the same fundamentals. The [guide on why two screeners disagree](https://stockmarketstack.com/guides/why-two-screeners-disagree)
covers the usual causes; diff the two lists before acting on the new one.

**Cost basis may not survive the broker relink.** A new tracker re-reads your brokerage through its
own aggregator, and what comes across depends on what that aggregator and the broker expose —
see [how aggregators reach your brokerage](https://stockmarketstack.com/guides/how-aggregators-reach-your-brokerage) and
[carrying cost basis across a transfer](https://stockmarketstack.com/how-to/carry-cost-basis-across-an-account-transfer).

## FAQ

### Is there a free alternative to Stock Rover?

For the screener, yes. Stock Analysis gives five years of statements and its whole screener with no account, and a free account adds watchlists, portfolios and alerts. Finviz's screener is free on delayed quotes. Koyfin's free plan has two saved screens and two years of financials. Stock Rover's own free account keeps brokerage links but not screening or analytics.

### What does Stock Rover cost?

On the vendor's plans page read on 9 October 2026, Premium is 34 dollars a month, Premium Plus 70, Ultimate 99 and Ultimate Pro 199, or 29, 49, 79 and 149 a month billed annually, and 24, 42, 69 and 129 on a two-year term. Research Reports are a separate 50-dollar subscription on Premium, and Stock Rover says it issues no refunds.

### Is there a Stock Rover alternative outside the US and Canada?

Stock Rover covers North America only, at every price. Koyfin, TIKR and Uncle Stock screen global equities; GuruFocus sells regions one by one, from 369 to 499 dollars a year each at Premium on top of the US; TradingView's screener covers listings in 50-plus countries. Portfolio123 reaches the UK and Europe but not Asia or Australia.

### Can I backtest a Stock Rover screen somewhere else?

Yes, which is the one thing Stock Rover cannot do itself; its historical screening filters on past values rather than simulating a strategy. Portfolio123 runs point-in-time backtests of a ranked screen from 116 a month, Uncle Stock backtests screens from 35 a month, and GuruFocus includes five-year screener backtests at Premium.
