## What it is

A clean front end over the SEC's 13F filings, run by one person. Pick a manager and you get every
quarter they have filed; pick a quarter and you get the holdings table, sortable, with the
position value, portfolio weight, share count and whether the line is an option. Three joins on top
make it more than a filing viewer: compare a manager's two quarters side by side, follow one
manager's position in a single CUSIP through time, or list every manager reporting that CUSIP in a
given quarter.

It is the least commercial thing in this category. No account, no plan, no ads on the pages
checked, and the whole Rails app — the EDGAR downloader, the parser and the front end — published
under MIT.

## Data & coverage

13F only, plus a separate Form D browser for private offerings filterable by name, industry,
geography and entity type.

History starts in 2014. That boundary is the SEC's, not the author's: structured XML became
mandatory for 13F then, and everything before it is free text that somebody has to parse into
shape. Vendors who sell depth sell exactly that work —
[WhaleWisdom](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/whalewisdom) goes back to the quarter ending March 2001 and charges $300 a
year for it.

Freshness is bounded by the filing rule rather than by the site. A 13F is due 45 days after quarter
end and most managers file on the last day; second-quarter 2026 filings were visible here in
September 2026. The site publishes no ingestion schedule and no lag figure, so treat "a few days
after it lands on EDGAR" as an observation rather than a commitment.

## Integrations

None, in the normal sense. No documented API, no CSV or Excel export, no alerts, no add-in.

The substitute is the licence. The repository holds the full application — a back end that pulls
13F data from EDGAR into PostgreSQL and a front end over it — and the README's own suggestion is
that the useful part for most people is the pipeline, not the site. If you need the data in bulk
and do not want to write an EDGAR parser, that is the offer, and it is a better one than an export
button.

## Limitations

- **2014 onward, and no earlier.** The single biggest gap against paid alternatives.
- **No API, no export.** The undocumented endpoint behind the holdings table is not a product and
can change or close without anyone being told.
- **One filing type.** No Form 4, no 13D/G, no congressional disclosures, no non-US holdings.
- **No entity, no terms, no support.** The About page is written in the first person and names an
individual. There is no company, no service commitment, and no page to read before you build a
  workflow on it.
- **The code has not moved since August 2024** while the site keeps ingesting. That is a
well-behaved side project, and it is also the profile of something that stops one day without an
  announcement.
- **13F's own blind spots apply and no tool fixes them** — long US-listed positions only, filed at
the firm level, up to 45 days stale before it is published.

## Alternatives

[WhaleWisdom](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/whalewisdom) is the paid version of this job — 2001 onward, an API, an Excel
add-in and a backtester, from $300 a year. [HedgeFollow](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/hedgefollow) covers more funds and
adds insider and congressional filings on the same page, with the depth behind a $15 to $66 tier.
[Dataroma](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/dataroma) is the other free one and answers a narrower question — 83 named value
investors rather than every filer. [Quiver Quantitative](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/quiver-quantitative) is the one to
take if 13F is only one of several disclosure datasets you need over an API. The rest of the
category is at [insider, 13F and congressional trade trackers](https://stockmarketstack.com/categories/insider-13f-trackers).

## FAQ

### Is 13F.info free, and do I need an account?

Free, with no account and no paid tier. There was no advertising on the pages checked on 21 September 2026 and no upsell anywhere on the site. It is one person's project run at their own cost, which is worth knowing when you plan around it.

### How far back does the data go?

To 2014, and the cut-off has a reason — that is when the SEC began requiring managers to file 13F as structured XML rather than as text. The oldest row on a manager page is the quarter ending December 2013, filed in February 2014. If you need 2001 onward you need a vendor that parsed the pre-XML filings.

### Does it have an API or a CSV export?

Neither is offered. The holdings table fetches from an undocumented JSON endpoint that is unauthenticated, but it is an internal detail rather than a product, and nothing on the site documents or supports it. The supported route to bulk data is the other one — the code is MIT-licensed and the README recommends running it against EDGAR yourself.

### Does it cover insider filings or congressional trades?

No. It is 13F institutional holdings plus a separate browser for Form D private-offering filings. No Form 4, no Schedule 13D or 13G, no STOCK Act disclosures.

### Is the project still maintained?

The site is current and the code is not. The homepage showed a second-quarter 2026 filing on 21 September 2026, so ingestion is running; the public repository's last push was 1 August 2024. It is not archived. For a free site with no company behind it, that gap is the main risk to weigh.
