## What it is

The amCharts 5 Stock Chart is a financial charting product sold beside amCharts 5 Charts rather
than inside it — the product page is explicit that no separate Charts licence is required — while
shipping as the `stock` entry point of the same `@amcharts/amcharts5` npm package. What you get is
closer to a small trading UI than to a renderer: a toolbar with period selection, series-type
switching, comparison mode for several instruments, multi-panel layouts, indicator and drawing
menus, and automatic data grouping as you zoom.

Counted in the published 5.20.6 package rather than off the marketing page, that is **34 indicator
modules** and **19 drawing-tool modules** — trend lines, parallel channels, Fibonacci
retracements and timezones, regression, quadrant lines, a measure tool, doodles, icons, labels
and callouts. The vendor's own counts — "30+ pre-built indicators", 34 further down the same page,
and "22 drawing tools" — are in the same neighbourhood.

Rendering is canvas, not SVG. Release cadence is the fastest in this category by some distance:
5.20.2 through 5.20.6 all shipped between 13 August and 16 September 2026, and the last commit on
the public repository is the day of the last release.

Free is a real option here, and it is the reason to look at this library at all. The LICENSE file
in the package calls the terms "linkware" and permits use in any project *including commercial
ones*, modification, and bundling into free, open-source or commercial software. The conditions
are that you do not disable, hide or alter the branding link drawn on every chart, that you ship
the LICENSE file alongside, and that you keep the copyright notices. What it forbids outright is
selling amCharts software or receiving any compensation for it, and distributing it other than as
part of an application.

Paying removes the link. Per developer seat, at 20% below the base Charts prices — Basic (public
sites with no login) $64 a year or $144 perpetual; Single App or SaaS (anything behind a login)

Extended OEM, covering affiliates and white-labelled products, by quote. An annual subscription
includes upgrades and support while it runs and bars further development if you cancel; a
perpetual licence is one payment, lifetime development rights, one year of major upgrades and
lifetime minor updates. Basic ships without support — amPlus is $190 a seat a year on top.

None. The Stock Chart draws series you supply and knows nothing about tickers, sessions or
exchanges. The docs' own examples pull from a demo JSON endpoint, and a real deployment needs a
market-data provider of its own.

- **The free tier is the paid tier with a link, which cuts both ways.** There is no feature
  penalty, but there is also no way to negotiate the link's placement — hiding or restyling it is

- **It is not open source.** The source is public and you may fork it, but you may not remove the
  attribution, sell it, or distribute it other than inside an application. GitHub reports no

- **The download is heavy.** Core and stock together are about 834 KB minified and 207 KB gzipped
  from the CDN, before the exporting plugin. Several times what a canvas renderer costs.
- **Per-seat pricing is per *developer*, and support is priced separately on the cheapest tier.**
  A three-person team on Basic pays $192 a year and still has forum support only.
- **No symbol search, watchlist, datafeed adapter or order entry.** The toolbar looks like a
  trading platform; the plumbing behind it is yours.
