## What it is

Barchart.com is the consumer half of Barchart: quote pages, interactive charts, watchlists,
hand-kept portfolios, email alerts and — the reason most people pay — screeners. Over 150 filters
across stocks, ETFs, funds and options, saved and re-run on demand, or run for you at midday and
the close with the matches emailed as CSV.

The options tooling is the part with no cheap equivalent: unusual options activity, options flow,
options time and sales, IV rank and percentile, and pre-built covered call, naked put and vertical
spread screeners. All of it is Premier-only.

Barchart also sells a market data API — [Barchart OnDemand](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/barchart-ondemand) — and a
desktop terminal under the same name. Different products, different buyers; this card is the
website membership.

## Pricing

Three tiers, read from the membership comparison page on 13 September 2026. Free is $0 and never
expires. Plus is $9.99 a month, $99 a year or $179 for two years. Premier is $29.95 a month,
$239.95 a year or $419.95 for two years. Both paid tiers advertise the first 30 days free.

The tiers sell quota, not data. Free allows 20 page views a day and one each of watchlist,
portfolio and saved screener; Plus lifts the page-view cap and gives ten of each; Premier makes
them unlimited, raises CSV downloads to 250 a day, and unlocks the options suite and the advanced
alerts. Unusually for this category, there is no exchange-data line item on top.

## Data & coverage

Equities for the US, Canada (TSX and TSX-V), the UK, Australia and Europe, switched with a market
flag that re-points the symbol search and the screeners. Futures, forex, crypto, indices and funds
throughout. Quotes are delayed — 15 minutes for stocks, 10-15 for futures and forex — except Cboe
BZX, which streams live. Equity options price history runs back to 3 January 2017 daily, minute
data from March 2023; symbol history downloads reach 1 January 2000.

## Integrations

Data comes out as .csv and nothing else: 1 download a day free, 10 on Plus, 250 on Premier, each
capped at 20,000 records — about six years of 30-minute bars. A Custom View of up to 25 columns
drawn from more than 400 fields downloads the same way, and the interactive chart exports intraday
bars and study values as well as prices. Scheduling is the whole automation story: saved screeners
run up to four times a day and email their matches, and Premier watchlist and portfolio emails go
out up to five times a day, optionally with that .csv attached.

Going the other way there is one real connection. The Investor Portfolio — beta — links a live
brokerage account through [SnapTrade](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/snaptrade) read-only, refreshed overnight or manually,
and will also take a .csv of transactions; a watchlist accepts a paste of up to 1,000 symbols.
A membership has no API and no keys, which is what the sibling
[Barchart OnDemand](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/barchart-ondemand) card is for. Barchart's Excel add-in is a further
product again, licensed on its own and absent from the membership comparison.

## Limitations

- **Twenty page views a day** on the free tier, counted across quotes, charts and tools. That is
  not a plan you can evaluate the screener on; it is a trailer.
- **No consolidated real-time tape at any price.** Premier does not buy you the SIP. Single-venue
  BZX prices are fine for triage and wrong for anything timed to the second.
- Free screener results stop at the first 20 rows, hiding the long tail a screen is run to find.
- No strategy backtesting. What carries that label is a fixed five-year hypothetical for the 13
  indicators behind the Barchart Opinion, not a rule set you write.
- **A linked broker account is a read-only mirror, and a slow one.** Holdings refresh once
  overnight, changes can take 24 hours to show, and cash and anything that is not a US-listed
  stock, US fund, ETF or US equity option may not import at all. No order routing, no paper trading.
- Fundamental data is not licensed for download outside US equities — a .csv pulled from a
  Canadian, UK, Australian or European stocks page prints `N/L` in those columns.
- No scripting, webhooks or API.

## FAQ

### Is Barchart.com data real-time?

Mostly no. Stock quotes are delayed 15 minutes and futures and forex 10-15 minutes, at every tier including Premier. The exception is Cboe BZX, a single venue that Barchart itself puts at 11-12% of US equity volume; BZX prints stream live and are what the price alerts trigger on, so they can disagree with your broker's consolidated quote.

### What does Barchart Premier add over the free membership?

The options suite — unusual activity, options flow, time and sales, IV rank and the strategy screeners — plus unlimited watchlists, portfolios and saved screeners, full screener result sets instead of the first 20 rows, advanced alerts with SMS, 250 CSV downloads a day and history back to 1 January 2000. It is $29.95 a month after a 30-day trial.

### Does a Barchart.com membership include an API?

No. Premier is a website login and nothing else — there are no endpoints and no keys. Barchart's developer data business is a separate product with separate pricing, bought by a different person.

### Can I connect a brokerage account to Barchart.com?

You can link one for reading, not for trading. The Investor Portfolio, still labelled beta, connects a real brokerage account through SnapTrade for a read-only view of the holdings; it refreshes once overnight or on demand, and a change at the broker can take 24 hours to appear. Only US-exchange stocks, US mutual funds, ETFs and US equity options are generally imported, and cash balances may not be. Barchart is not a broker — there is no order routing and no paper trading.
