## What it is

Edgewonk is a trading journal that spends its effort on what happens after the trade is closed.
The record-keeping is ordinary; the analytics are the product. A trade-management optimiser
replays your own fills under different exit rules to show what a wider stop or an earlier target
would have done. The Tiltmeter scores how often you broke your own rules. Edge Finder scans the
journal every Sunday and reports which setup, session and hour of the day actually make money.

It is a browser application now. Edgewonk 2 was desktop software on a perpetual licence;
Edgewonk 3 launched on 6 February 2024 as a cloud rebuild, and the old installer survives only on
a legacy page that points you at the upgrade. The rebuild is not a stalled one: the public
changelog carries 91 dated releases since January 2024, roughly one every two to four weeks, the
most recent on 9 September 2026.

## Pricing

One plan, $197, every feature included — the vendor refuses to tier its features. Billing is
annual and recurring, not a licence: cancel and you lose access to the journal. VAT on top puts
the real price at $234 in Germany and $236 in the UK. A "16 months for the price of 12" promotion
was running behind a countdown timer on 14 September 2026 — the same $197, billed every 16
months — while the page's hero still quoted an older $169 that the buy button no longer charges.
No free tier, no trial, only a 14-day refund window.

What the one price covers is the part worth checking against a per-account competitor: unlimited
journals, unlimited broker and prop-firm accounts, unlimited imported trades and strategies, 20
custom tag categories, six screenshots per trade, and a portfolio page that combines every journal
into one set of statistics. The page also promises the renewal price is locked for life.

## Data & coverage

Edgewonk ships no market data and no price charts. Every figure is computed from the trades you
import, which makes it market-agnostic — forex, stocks, futures, crypto, options, indices and
commodities, in any account currency, prop-firm accounts included.

## Integrations

Auto-sync is real for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 accounts only, and it runs on your own
machine: Edgewonk issues an FTP target and you point MetaTrader's own report publishing at it with
a 60-minute refresh, after which MT4 also publishes on every trade action. Since August 2026 MT5
has a second route — a read-only Expert Advisor, `EdgewonkAutoImporter.ex5`, dropped into
`MQL5/Experts` — which support still hands out on request rather than shipping in the app.

The other 64 platforms on the supported list — Interactive Brokers, TradeStation, Tradovate,
cTrader, NinjaTrader, Tastytrade, Schwab — are file imports: you generate the statement at the
broker and upload it. Interactive Brokers is representative — a Trade Confirmation flex query you
configure once, then download as CSV before each import. An Excel template covers anything
unlisted, and the journal exports back out as an Excel file, minus screenshots and notes.

## Limitations

- No free tier and no trial. $197 up front, with a refund window instead.
- Exit date, exit price and gross P&L are mandatory on every trade and there is no price feed: it
  reviews closed trades rather than monitoring open ones.
- Background auto-sync is MetaTrader-only; every other broker is a manual upload each time, and the
  newer MT5 Expert Advisor is still issued by support rather than installed from the app.
- Options are imported, not modelled. Each broker's importer parses that broker's own option
  symbols — strike, expiry, type, multiplier — and the support arrived one broker at a time across
  2024 and 2025: E*TRADE, Fidelity, TD Ameritrade, Thinkorswim, WeBull, TradeZero, tastytrade
  assignments, Interactive Brokers future options. Nothing in the vendor's own material describes
  grouping a multi-leg spread into one position, and greeks appear nowhere.
- No API, no webhooks, no mobile app.
- Strategy testing replays your own historical fills under different exits. The Backtester tab is a
  grid you type outcomes into by hand — nothing is simulated against price data.
- No tax reporting, and no portfolio or holdings tracking.

### Is Edgewonk still a one-time licence?

No, and this is the most common stale fact about it. Edgewonk 2 was a Java desktop application sold on a perpetual licence. Edgewonk 3, launched on 6 February 2024, is a browser-based journal on an annual subscription, and the vendor's own FAQ is explicit that when you cancel you can no longer log in.

### Does Edgewonk import trades from my broker automatically?

Only from MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, which have a genuine background auto-sync. For the 64 other platforms on the supported list — Interactive Brokers, TradeStation, Tradovate, cTrader, NinjaTrader — you download a statement or flex-query CSV yourself and upload it each time. Anything unlisted goes in through an Excel template.
