## What it is

GuruFocus is a value-investing research site, founded in 2004 and run from Plano, Texas. Three
things are sold together: long financial histories on a company page, the All-in-One Screener,
and the 13F-derived portfolios of well-known investors that gave the site its name. The house
style is Graham and Buffett — Shiller PE, Graham Number, owner earnings, Peter Lynch fair value —
and the screener ships with pre-built screens named after those strategies.

The long history is the main argument: the 30-Y Financials tab is what people renew for, and the
vendor's Data API material claims fundamentals back to 1978. Raw fundamentals come from
Morningstar, intraday US quotes from QuoteMedia, estimates from Refinitiv and Morningstar;
GuruFocus does the ratio and valuation maths on top.

## Pricing

Annual, per region, three levels deep. Premium for the USA region is $549 a year, Premium Plus
$1,398, Professional $2,448. Other regions are priced separately at the Premium level — Asia and
Europe $499 a year, Canada, UK/Ireland, Oceania, Latin America, Africa and India/Pakistan $369 —
with $100 off each region after the first. US plus Europe is $948, not $549.

The levels buy ownership depth and export headroom, not different fundamentals: 144 gurus at
Premium against 8,000-plus institutions and 15,000-plus mutual funds above it, screener backtests
over five years against back to 2006, 1,000-row downloads against 5,000, an Excel add-in capped
at 2,000 queries against unlimited. Professional adds delisted stocks and an account manager. The
7-day trial comes round once every 24 months.

## Data & coverage

Nine regions — US, Canada, Europe, UK/Ireland, Asia, India/Pakistan, Oceania, Africa and Latin
America — each a separate purchase. The pricing page claims 100,000 stocks in 100 markets; the
Excel add-in page says over 90,000 stocks, 8,000 institutions and 4,600 economic indicators. ETF,
bond and delisted-stock screeners sit alongside the equity one. Fundamentals arrive about two
business days after an SEC filing for US companies over $800 million, four below that and ten for
non-US filers.

## Integrations

An Excel add-in (Office 365 or Windows Office 2021+) exposes `GURUF`, `GURUG`, `GURUE` and
`GURUI` worksheet functions for financials, guru portfolios, economic indicators and industry
medians, with the screener inside Excel on Premium Plus. There is a Google Sheets add-on, CSV and
XLSX screener downloads, a per-stock PDF, and iOS and Android apps.

The Data API is a separate subscription — free at 100 requests a month, $200 a month for Builder,
$2,000 for redistribution rights — though every membership carries a small allowance against it.
An MCP server runs at the same API host on the same token; it answered a JSON-RPC probe on
13 September 2026.

## Limitations

- Much of what you see is GuruFocus's own model, not a reported number. GF Value, GF Score and
  its five rank dimensions, the predictability rating and the model portfolios are all computed
  by the vendor. GF Value is a proprietary blend of historical multiples and expected growth with
  no published formula, and value screens and model portfolios are sold on top of it. Read the
  ratios; treat the verdicts as one house's opinion.
- The guru data is a quarterly regulatory filing, with everything that implies. Form 13F reports
  long US-listed equity positions only — no shorts, no bonds, no cash, no non-US listings — and
  is due 45 days after quarter end, so a holding can be five months stale before you read it.
  GuruFocus puts the usual publication lag at one to four months and shows the quarter end as the
  trade date when no exact date exists.
- Priced per region: a genuinely global screen means buying most of the nine.
- Fundamentals are Morningstar's, so there is no second opinion on a restatement here.
- No options analytics, no real-time scanning, no execution. This is a research desk.
- Annual billing, and subscriptions are final and non-refundable once the trial ends.

### What can you see on GuruFocus without paying?

More than most paywalled research sites. A logged-out visitor gets the current ratio panel on a stock page — PE, Shiller PE, Graham Number, Price-to-GF-Value, the DCF-based ratios — plus the GF Score and roughly the last four fiscal years and five quarters of financials. Everything older renders as "Subscribe to unlock this section", the statement breakdowns say "Not Enough Data", and the screener returns a match count and per-row prices and GF Scores with the ticker and company columns replaced by a subscribe link.

### What is the "guru" data actually made of?

Regulatory filings, not a feed from the managers. Quarterly holdings come from Form 13F, which institutional managers over $100 million file up to 45 days after quarter end, supplemented by Schedule 13D/G and N-PORT. GuruFocus says the usual lag between a trade and its publication is one to four months, and that when no exact date exists it shows the quarter end.

### Is GF Value a fair value or GuruFocus's own opinion?

It is GuruFocus's own model. GF Value is a proprietary blend of a company's historical valuation multiples, its fundamentals and expected growth, and the vendor describes it as a starting point rather than a substitute for analysis.
