## What it is

HedgeFollow is a web front end over US ownership and disclosure filings, with three trackers at
its centre: hedge funds and institutions from 13F, corporate insiders from Form 4, and members of
Congress from their STOCK Act reports. The vendor puts the coverage at more than 10,000 filing
institutions and more than 100,000 insiders.

A fund page merges filing types rather than showing 13F alone, folding 13D, 13G and Form 4 into
the same holdings table where they exist, so a position can be more current than the quarterly
filing on its own would allow. Around it sit a stock screener over institutional and insider
activity, a portfolio builder that combines several funds' portfolios, a balancer that weights a
list by institutional ownership, a comparison tool and an implied P/E calculator.

The distinguishing claim is data cleaning: the site states it has corrected over a million errors
across the 13F corpus since inception. It also trails an Enterprise Plan that would let a manager
maintain a profile and see the suspected errors in its own filings — announced in the middle of
the ranking methodology page, in the future tense, with no price, no form and no page of its own.

## Pricing

Two paid levels, and no monthly billing: the toggle offers quarterly or annual, so the cheapest
way in is $45 for a quarter. Level 1 raises the caps; Level 2, at four times the price, is where
the product actually opens up — all holdings, all aggregations, the portfolio builder, the AI
features and an export.

Two things about that page are worth knowing before you read it. A banner reading "LAST DAY Cyber
Deals: Over 50% off Annual Plans" — in September — sits above a table whose own pricing code has
the discount branch switched off and serves the standard $10 and $49 annual rates; the discount
you can actually see is a struck-through $33 a month printed beside Level 1 at both cadences,
which is not a price either branch charges. And a Level 3 exists in the same code — 100 stocks and
funds, a 100-row export, all hidden content — with no column on the table and no price the
checkout could charge.

A separate $10 a month or $99 a year newsletter is sold from a modal on every page. It is not a
plan and unlocks nothing; what it delivers is described by the vendor as monthly stock picks we
find appealing, plus notable fund and insider activity.

## Data & coverage

US filings only, and quarterly at the core. A fund's performance chart runs from Q1 2019 to Q2
2026 — thirty quarters, and the floor of the site's history — which is shallower than the 13F
specialists and deeper than the free congressional sites. Logged out, the quarter selector on the
holdings table offers the latest filing and the one before it, and nothing else. The insider and
congressional trackers are event-driven and as current as their filings, which for a STOCK Act
report can mean weeks.

What the tiers meter is depth rather than features: the top 50 holdings and a two-week tracker
window free, 100 holdings and a month on Level 1, every holding and three months on Level 2 — the
window options carry the level that unlocks them in the markup. Most of the interesting filters
are gated the same way — trade-value thresholds from $1M up, changes in portfolio weight, the
officer-only and informative-only insider aggregations.

## Integrations

None. No API, no developer documentation, no webhooks, no MCP server, no spreadsheet add-in and
nothing on PyPI. The only way data leaves is a CSV or Excel button capped at 50 rows on Level 2;
free accounts can press it to see a sample file and nothing else. The terms close the other door
explicitly — no commercial use without written consent, and no automated bots or spiders — so
read them before pointing a scraper at it.

## Limitations

- **There is no way to get the data out.** A 50-row export and terms banning both automation and
commercial use make this a reading site; anything programmatic has to come from EDGAR or a
  vendor that sells a feed.
- **Quarterly filings, with all of 13F's holes.** Shorts are not reported, written options and
non-US listings are excluded, and a manager files up to 45 days after quarter end.
- **History stops at Q1 2019,** so anything covering 2008 or the 2000-02 unwind is not here.
- **The product does not stop at data, and the verdicts are specific.** AI Stock Picks publishes a
top 20 chosen by a model each quarter with a reasoning column, in two flavours — one drawn from
200 popular funds, one from all 10,000 institutions. AI Fund Analysis and AI Stock Summary write
up a fund or a ticker, an AI Insights tab sits on fund pages marked beta, the star ratings rank
funds as candidates to follow, and Consensus Picks and Hot Stocks are ranked lists of names. The
  paid newsletter is stock picks outright. The terms state that none of it is investment advice;
the trackers and the screener are the half that hands you the disclosures and leaves the
  conclusion alone.
- **The checkout is not in one piece.** The newsletter modal on every page initialises Stripe with
a `pk_test_` publishable key and posts to an endpoint named `stripe_checkoutDev.php`, while the
plans table beside it uses a `pk_live_` key — not what a working payment path looks like, and a
reason to buy from the plans table rather than the modal.

## FAQ

### What can you see on HedgeFollow without paying?

The top 50 stock and option holdings of any fund, the last two weeks on the hedge fund, insider and congress trackers, the stock screener, the comparison and balancer tools, and the fund star ratings — all with third-party ads. Deeper holdings, longer tracker windows, most filters and any export are gated.

### Can I pay monthly?

No. Billing is quarterly or annual, so the cheapest entry is $45 for three months on Level 1. The $10 and $49 per-month figures on the plans page are the annual rates divided by twelve.

### Does HedgeFollow have an API?

No. There is no API, no developer documentation and no bulk file. Export is a CSV or Excel button capped at 50 rows on Level 2, and the terms of service forbid both commercial use and automated access to the site.

### How far back does the holdings history go?

To Q1 2019. A fund's performance chart runs quarter by quarter from Q1 2019 to Q2 2026 — thirty quarters, about seven and a half years — while the holdings quarter selector, logged out, offers only the latest filing and the one before it. Fund rankings are computed over the trailing three years of top-20 holdings.

### What are the star ratings?

HedgeFollow's own 0-to-5 rating of a fund's past stock picking, allocation and risk, computed over its top 20 holdings across three years. Funds must have filed 13F for three years and held five or more equities each quarter to be rated at all. The ratings are also how the site defines its Outperforming and Strongly Outperforming aggregations.
