## What it is

Options Profit Calculator is a free website that estimates what an option position is worth at
every date between now and expiry and at a range of underlying prices, and prints the answer as
a colour-coded return table and a line chart. Its own pitch is that third dimension: most
calculators show profit at expiry only, and this one shows the days in between, which is what an
exit plan needs. The footer's copyright runs from 2008 and names OptionScout, Inc.; the product also
calls itself OpCalc.

There are calculators for 22 named strategies — long calls and puts, covered calls,
cash-secured puts, naked options, credit, debit, calendar, diagonal and ratio back spreads, the
poor man's covered call, iron condors, butterflies, collars, straddles, strangles, synthetic puts and
reverse conversions — plus custom positions of two to eight legs. A stock-comparison line sets an
option trade against buying the shares. The Option Finder works the other way round: you give a
target price and date, and it scans the chain for the single option or spread that would make the
most if you are right.

Members get a separate app at app.opcalc.com: a rolling calculator for adjusting a trade already
on, a Quick View that runs several strategies on one symbol at once, custom strategies, a
comparison of strikes, expiries and widths, and a backtester over what the membership page calls
20-plus years of historical stock and options data.

## Pricing

The website is free and carries advertising. Membership is $9.95 a month, stated in the site's
own banner as the price of removing ads, and is bought through the app; the membership page lists
no annual price and no trial. Five more features are listed as in progress with no date: a
standard-deviation overlay, portfolio tracking of saved calculations, anticipated IV changes,
spreadsheet download and popular searches.

## Data & coverage

US-listed stocks, ETFs and their options, and Canadian options listed on the Montréal Exchange,
which the site added as a later update. Prices come from third-party websites and are 15 to 30
minutes delayed; the FAQ says plainly that the site does not earn enough to pay for a premium
feed. Implied volatility is computed from the stock's market-hours price, to stop an after-hours
move distorting it. Daily estimates are for the market open of each day, with a last column at
the close on expiry day.

## Integrations

None. No broker connection, no order entry, no import of positions and no public API; the site's
terms limit use to personal, non-commercial purposes.

## Limitations

- **Implied volatility is frozen.** The FAQ names it as the largest unknown: the estimates are
right only if IV stays where it is, and an earnings release or company statement is the
common reason a projected profit becomes a loss.
- **Costs are missing.** Bid-ask slippage and commissions are not in any figure.
- **Delayed data on every plan.** Real-time prices are announced for members, not available.
- **The Option Finder answers your forecast.** It returns the option that would pay most if
your target price is hit, nothing more.
- **Two company names.** The footer names OptionScout, Inc.; the 2020 terms name Options Profit
Calculator Pty Ltd, and nothing on the site reconciles the two.

## Alternatives

[OptionStrat](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/optionstrat) does the same strategy building with live data on its paid plans,
plus an optimizer and a flow feed. [Option Samurai](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/option-samurai) screens the whole
market for trades rather than modelling one. [OptionNet Explorer](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/optionnet-explorer) is
the desktop choice for backtesting and adjusting multi-leg positions on historical data. The
rest are in [options data and flow analytics](https://stockmarketstack.com/categories/options-analytics).

## FAQ

### Is Options Profit Calculator free?

Yes. Every strategy calculator and the Option Finder are free on the website, paid for by advertising. A membership at $9.95 a month removes the ads and opens a separate app with a rolling calculator, a Quick View calculator, a backtester and custom strategies, read on the membership page on 23 October 2026.

### How does Options Profit Calculator estimate profit and loss?

With the Black-Scholes formula, per the FAQ. Each leg's implied volatility is backed out of its current market price, held constant, and used to price the option at every date and underlying price in the table. Slippage from the bid-ask spread and brokerage fees are not included, and probability of profit comes from a normal distribution on 30-day implied volatility.

### Does Options Profit Calculator have real-time prices?

No. The FAQ says stock and option prices come from third-party websites and are delayed by 15 to 30 minutes. The membership page lists real-time data as coming soon; it is not part of the membership today.

### Does the Option Finder pick trades for me?

It ranks options against a target you supply. You enter the price you expect a stock to reach by a date, and it scans every liquid option on that stock and suggests the call or put, or spread, that would make the most at that point, using Black-Scholes with today's implied volatility held constant. The forecast is yours, not the site's.

### Who runs Options Profit Calculator?

The site footer names OptionScout, Inc. as the owner of the OpCalc and Options Profit Calculator trademarks. The terms and conditions, last updated on 12 October 2020, name Options Profit Calculator Pty Ltd as the contracting company.
