# SiftingIO

US stock quotes, bars, SEC filings and XBRL on one key, from an upstream it never names.

**Best for:** developers who want US prices, filings and insider records under one key with a free tier to build on; not for anyone who must name the feed or needs extended hours.

## What it is

SiftingIO is a market data API sold one market at a time: US stocks, forex, crypto, commodities
and DEX pools each have their own tier ladder, so a stock buyer pays for the US Stocks feed alone.
One key returns the latest trade, top-of-book quote and previous close over REST, live ticks over
WebSocket, and OHLCV bars from 1-minute to monthly. Behind the prices sits a company-data layer on
the same key: issuer profiles with CIK and SIC, filing metadata for 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, DEF 14A and
13D/G, extracted 10-K and 10-Q text with a year-over-year Risk Factors diff, XBRL concepts and
accounting ratios, Form 3, 4 and 5 insider transactions, and current 13F-HR positions.

It is new. The operator is SaltingIO LLC, a Wyoming company spelled with an "a", unlike the brand,
registered at 30 N Gould St, Sheridan. The About page dates the LLC to 2024 and the platform to
2025, with US stocks in 2026; the GitHub organisation dates from April 2026 and the first SDKs from
24 May. No person is named, and the About page credits its 30,000+ developers to the team's
earlier work in one paragraph and to SiftingIO in another.

## Pricing

The pricing page opens on crypto and annual billing, which is why the picker reads "US Stocks
from $103/mo". Month to month, US Stocks costs $129 on Builder, $399 on Pro and $1,099 on Ultra;
billed annually, $103, $320 and $879 a month. The "$79" in the default plan cards and the "from
$99/month, billed monthly" on the crypto page are one crypto tier on two billing bases, not a stock
price. Two or more markets on Pro or Ultra take 10% to 25% off automatically.

The ladder that matters is the licence. Free is internal and non-commercial, Builder is individual
internal use, and Pro is the first tier with commercial use and customer-facing display. On Free
and Builder a spent quota returns 429 until the next cycle; Pro can opt in to overage at roughly
$0.0001 to $0.001 a call.

The trial is unsettled: seven days of Ultra after a demo call on the home page, 14 days of Pro
by request in the pricing FAQ.

## Data & coverage

US-listed common stocks, ETFs and ADRs, plus REITs, MLPs and preferreds where mapped. The history
table gives US stocks 25+ years, with AAPL as the reference and the qualifier "for supported
series", on every tier since 29 September 2026, when Free's one month was lifted. The "10+ years of history" in every plan card is crypto's figure, the page's default
market. Bars cover the regular session only, 09:30 to 16:00 Eastern, 2,000 to a page; the
reference does not say whether intraday prices are split-adjusted.

The site answers the provenance question twice, differently. The FAQ on `/product/stocks` asks
whether this is an official exchange-of-record feed and answers no: outputs are aggregated,
derived and normalised, and may differ from any exchange; the terms call them "synthetic reference
values". The measured-versus-derived table on `/data-methodology` files equities under
authoritative sources, with price "Measured: official source of record" and
volume "Measured: official reported volume". The upstream is never named; the home page says
"established market data providers". This card does not decide which page is right.

The latency field follows the pricing FAQ, which calls the free US stocks tier real-time. The
methodology page's delivery rates, 1 Hz on Free to 10 Hz on Ultra, give way to the source's own
agreement for licensed sources, and it gives no equities figure. Customers classify their own users as
professional or non-professional, and no page says what that changes.

## Integrations

Official SDKs for Go, Python and TypeScript, MIT and generated from one OpenAPI and AsyncAPI spec,
all pre-1.0: `siftingio` 0.2.0 on PyPI and `@siftingio/sdk` 0.3.0 on npm, released 2 August 2026.
The key goes in an `X-API-Key` header, and the terms forbid exposing it in client-side code, so a
browser app needs its own proxy.

The MCP server has two editions: a hosted connector in the ChatGPT and Claude directories with 10
read-only tools for prices, bars and market hours, and `siftingio-mcp`, a local MIT server with 36
tools, the only one that reaches filings, XBRL, insiders and 13F. Every call spends ordinary quota.
The Excel add-in is sideloaded from a manifest, outside Microsoft's marketplace, and refreshes by
hand; a browser tool exports CSV and Excel. FIX 4.4 is Enterprise-only, and the FIX page lists
crypto, forex, commodities and metals, not US equities.

## Limitations

- **It emits a call as well as data.** The technical signals endpoints return what the docs call
"a decision-ready summary (strong_sell to strong_buy)", scored from −1 to +1 by votes of RSI,
MACD, Stochastic, CCI, Williams %R, Momentum and moving averages. It is indicator arithmetic on a
symbol you choose, on every tier, priced nowhere on its own and wired to no order, but it is a
verdict rather than a number, which is why this card carries the recommendations flag.
- No named upstream, and two vendor pages disagree on whether the price is the official record.
If your compliance or your backtest depends on which tape a print came from, get it in writing.
- No pre-market or after-hours bars documented, and no options, futures or non-US equities.
- Section 9 of the terms (updated 9 May 2026) forbids, unless your plan or order form allows it in
writing, republishing stored history as a standalone dataset, building indices, benchmarks or
reference rates for third parties, and training a model offered to third parties or whose output
is substantially derived from the data.
- Display to anyone outside your organisation starts at Pro, and use beyond the licensed scope can
be billed retroactively after an audit (section 11).
- No P/E, P/B or EV/EBITDA: the ratios endpoint uses reported statements only.
- A short public record: equities shipped in 2026, the SDKs are pre-1.0, and the Wyoming registry
entry was not checked because the state's search sits behind a CAPTCHA.

## Alternatives

[Alpaca Market Data](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/alpaca-market-data) names its feed, IEX free and the full SIP at $99 a
month, which is the question SiftingIO leaves open. [Twelve Data](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/twelve-data) has similar
multi-asset breadth on a credit ladder, and [Finnhub](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/finnhub) gives filings and insider data
with a free real-time key. [Massive](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/massive) is the one for full-tick US history. See the

## FAQ

### Is SiftingIO's US stock data an official exchange feed?

The vendor's pages disagree. The US stocks FAQ answers no — the values are aggregated and derived, not raw exchange feeds or exchange-of-record prices, and may differ from any exchange. The methodology page files equities under an authoritative-source regime and labels their price as measured from the official source of record. Neither page names the upstream provider.

### What does the SiftingIO free tier give you for US stocks?

10,000 REST calls a month at 60 requests a minute, one WebSocket connection with five symbols, and the full available history, with no card. The licence stops at internal, non-commercial work, and the $129 Builder plan above it is still an individual, internal-use plan.

### Can I show SiftingIO stock prices to my own users?

Only from Pro up, at $399 a month or $320 billed annually. Raw-feed redistribution, sublicensing to other businesses and high-volume embedded use may need an Enterprise agreement, and the terms separately forbid republishing stored history as a dataset, building indices for third parties, or training a model whose output is offered to others.

### Does SiftingIO have pre-market and after-hours bars?

Not as documented. The US equities bars endpoint covers the regular session only, 09:30 to 16:00 Eastern, Monday to Friday, at intervals from one minute to one month. Half-day sessions return fewer intraday bars and closed days return none.
