# Uncle Stock

Global fundamental screener with valuation models, screen backtests and an MCP server.

**Best for:** value investors screening listings well beyond the US on deep fundamentals and testing a screen over decades; not for intraday prices, technical scanning or a full portfolio tracker.

## What it is

Uncle Stock is a fundamental stock screener for value-oriented investors, started by one
developer, Peter Nees, and sold as a web app. It screens a database of 100,000+ listings across
79 countries on fundamental metrics — valuation multiples, profitability, solvency, multi-year
growth, quality-of-earnings tests — and on its own composite scores. The screenable list
published by its metrics service holds 1,863 entries; the marketing copy says 2,000+ and the FAQ
4,000 searchable sub-metrics, so read the headline number as an order of magnitude.

What sets it apart from a plain screener is the modelling layer. Several intrinsic-value models
(DCF, dividend discount, residual income, Graham, EPV and others) sit beside guru screens built
from Graham, Lynch, Greenblatt, Piotroski, Levermann, Beneish and Altman, and any saved screen
can be backtested: equal-, volatility- or expectation-weighted, rebalanced yearly, half-yearly or
quarterly, with keep and sell rules, stop-loss slippage and dividends included. The interface was
rebuilt in React during 2026; the classic client is still reachable, and the changelog is dated
almost daily.

## Pricing

Three plans, each in dollars or euros set separately: Bronze $20 a month, Silver $35, Gold $60.
Yearly billing cuts that to $130, $210 and $350 — the "from $130 a year" a reader may have seen
elsewhere is Bronze on annual terms. Bronze is the whole screener and every indicator; Silver
adds backtesting with yearly rebalancing and saved queries; Gold adds quarterly rebalancing, CSV
export capped at 300 calls a month, the API, a 75-a-day MCP quota and the portfolio module.

The 14-day trial needs no card and lapses on its own. After it, price metrics and financial
results stay free to read. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the paid cycle.

## Data & coverage

US fundamentals come from [Sharadar](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/sharadar); everything outside the US, and price
history, from [EODHD](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/eodhd) and/or [Financial Modeling Prep](https://stockmarketstack.com/tools/financial-modeling-prep).
History runs 25 years, 35 on US stocks. New financial results are imported within about 10 days
of publication. A ticker not yet in the database is added by typing it in Yahoo Finance format.
Gold adds cryptocurrencies.

## Integrations

The API and the MCP server are the two ways out. The API is a set of keyed URLs on Gold that
return what the UI exports. The MCP server is hosted, answers unauthenticated requests with 401,
and connects to Claude.ai by OAuth or to other clients with the account's API key. There is no
Python package, spreadsheet add-in or broker connection.

## Limitations

- **It emits verdicts as well as data.** Every plan shows a Strong Buy to Strong Sell "advice",
a price target and an Act/Wait trading recommendation, all computed from the vendor's own score
and expected return. The formula is published in the documentation; it is still one house's
model, and the screener ranks on it if you let it.
- Prices are not live, and indicators can be up to a month old for an obscure stock.
- CSV export, the API and quarterly backtests are Gold-only; on Bronze and Silver the only way
data leaves is the 5-a-day MCP quota.
- Backtests rebalance into equal or rule-weighted top lists and ignore intraday gaps; the vendor
notes that rerunning one can give a different result as historical data is corrected.
- Portfolio management is "lightweight" in the vendor's own word: positions, limits and email
notifications, no broker sync and no tax reporting.
- A small vendor: the founder's own page describes building it alone, and support mail goes to
him by name. Weigh that against a multi-year commitment to the yearly price.

## FAQ

### How much does Uncle Stock cost, monthly or yearly?

Bronze is $20 a month or $130 a year, Silver $35 or $210, Gold $60 or $350. Euro prices are set separately rather than converted — €20, €30 and €50 a month, or €110, €180 and €290 a year — and all include VAT where it applies. Every plan starts with a 14-day trial that needs no card and no cancellation.

### Does Uncle Stock have an API?

Yes, on Gold only. The documented endpoints export a stock list, a saved screen or one stock's full history as CSV, run a screen as JSON (up to 150 results a call), and return a saved screen's backtest report. The metric and universe lists are open without a key.

### Does the Uncle Stock MCP server work without a subscription?

Yes, with a quota. It is a hosted server for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients, with three read-only tools. Looking up metrics and universes is free; the screening tool allows 5 calls a day on any account and 75 a day on Gold.

### Are Uncle Stock prices real-time?

No. The vendor describes prices as delayed, and for Nasdaq they are the previous trading day's. The screener's indicators are recalculated about every 10 days for popular stocks and at least monthly for the rest, or on the spot when someone opens a stock whose price has moved.
