Thirty-seven stock-analysis tools for any MCP client, on Yahoo data and no key.
Financial MCP Servers
MCP servers that are the whole product — which tools, on whose data, with or without a key, under which licence, and how much context they cost.
Last updated
Sixty-one cards in this catalogue ship an MCP server, and nearly all of them ship it beside something else — a data subscription, a portfolio tracker, a backtester. Those are gathered at tools with MCP and sit in the category of the job they are bought for. This page holds the three where the server is the whole product: you bring the client and the model, and the server answers tool calls. None of the three sells data or places an order.
- Filings and XBRL financials, US filers only, no key — SEC EDGAR MCP, 21 tools, AGPL-3.0 or a commercial licence.
- Indicators, screens and a local portfolio on Yahoo data, no key — MaverickMCP, 37 tools, MIT.
- Screeners, options chains and preset backtests, no TradingView account — tradingview-mcp, 37 tools, MIT, also hosted from $9 a month.
What decides the choice
Whose data, and on what terms. None of the three holds a data licence. SEC EDGAR MCP reads
EDGAR, which is public: no key, but the SEC blocks requests without a real name and email in
SEC_EDGAR_USER_AGENT, and the server keeps to the SEC's ceiling of ten requests a second.
MaverickMCP reads Yahoo Finance through yfinance; tradingview-mcp reads Yahoo's public endpoints and
TradingView's public screener through open-source packages. That is why neither asks for a key, and
why neither has an SLA: when Yahoo throttles or moves an endpoint, every tool that needs a fresh
price stops. Treat both as delayed data. Licensed data and someone to complain to come with the
vendor-run servers on the data cards — Alpha Vantage, EODHD,
Massive.
What the tools return. SEC EDGAR MCP's value is the parsing: XBRL figures as filed rather than numbers a model read off a page, a 10-K split so that only the section asked for reaches the context window, Forms 3, 4 and 5 as structured insider transactions, and the filing URL on every response. It returns no prices at all. MaverickMCP adds the indicator maths and a SQLite file that remembers positions, watchlists and a journal between sessions; its screens run only over tickers already in that database. tradingview-mcp's backtests are nine fixed presets, not your own code. Both Yahoo-based servers also put labels on named tickers — MaverickMCP an outlook from "strongly bullish" to "strongly bearish", tradingview-mcp STRONG BUY to STRONG SELL, with entries, stops and targets on some tools. That is threshold arithmetic over indicators, formatted as a call.
Local or hosted. All three run on your own machine. SEC EDGAR MCP's streamable-HTTP transport has no authentication, so it belongs on a private network. Only tradingview-mcp sells a hosted version, under the CryptoSieve brand: $9 a month for 2,500 calls or $29 for 10,000, with 27 tools where the repository lists 37.
The licence. MaverickMCP and tradingview-mcp are MIT. SEC EDGAR MCP is AGPL-3.0: running the unmodified server inside your company triggers nothing, but modify it and serve it over a network and its users are owed your source. The commercial licence that lifts the obligation is quoted by email, with no published price.
Whether anyone is still committing. Each is one person's project, and the commit log says more than the star count. When their cards were checked, MaverickMCP had shipped v1.1.0 on 5 September 2026; SEC EDGAR MCP shipped v1.1.0 on 20 August and was last committed to the next day; tradingview-mcp was last committed to on 1 September, and its git tag, PyPI release and README badge name three different versions.
How much context the tool list costs. A client reads every tool's definition when it connects, and the model chooses among all of them. SEC EDGAR MCP registers 21; MaverickMCP 37, or 52 with both extras; tradingview-mcp 37. Installed together, that is 95 definitions before the first question. Massive's server exposes four tools in place of one per endpoint, and OpenBB's lets a session switch on only the categories it needs — the case for installing one server per question rather than all three.
Where the data products with a server went
Three cards that ship a server now sit where their job is: OpenBB and Financial
Datasets in market data APIs,
Equibles in fundamentals research. In each
the server is one door into something else. OpenBB's wraps the seventeen sources its V5 release
bundles, mostly public ones such as SEC and FRED; Financial Datasets' fronts a paid REST API with no free tier; Equibles' sits beside a
portal, a REST API and an AGPL core you can host yourself. What you buy there is the data, judged
against other data. They keep the mcp_server flag and stay on tools with MCP.
An agent framework that also exposes a server — Vibe-Trading publishes 74
tools over MCP — is bought for the research loop, and lives in AI research agents and
copilots.
Where this category connects
How to give an AI assistant market data is the configuration, and what goes wrong once it runs — a failed call reported to the model rather than to you, a rate limit the model spends for you. Financial MCP servers, and the licence behind them covers what the protocol leaves unchanged about the data agreement behind a key, and the MCP server entry defines the term and what it does not mean. For filings without a model in the loop, how to get SEC filings as data goes to EDGAR directly.

FAQ
Why are OpenBB and Financial Datasets not in this category?
Because their server is one door into a data product, and the data is what you buy. OpenBB's server wraps the seventeen data sources its V5 release bundles, mostly public ones such as SEC and FRED, and Financial Datasets' is a hosted front for a paid REST API; both are in market data APIs, and Equibles is in fundamentals research. All three keep the MCP flag and are listed on the tools-with-MCP page beside every other card that ships a server.
Which financial MCP servers work without an API key?
All three in this category. SEC EDGAR MCP reads EDGAR, which is public, though the SEC blocks requests that do not carry a real name and email in the user agent. MaverickMCP and tradingview-mcp read Yahoo Finance's public endpoints and need no key or account; tradingview-mcp's news and sentiment tools want a free Marketaux key. No key also means no licence, no SLA and nobody to complain to when an endpoint moves.
Can I run an AGPL-licensed MCP server inside a company?
Running SEC EDGAR MCP unmodified inside your own company triggers nothing. Modify it and serve it over a network, and the people using it are owed your modified source under the same licence. A commercial licence that removes the obligation is arranged by email with the author, and no price is published. MaverickMCP and tradingview-mcp are MIT and carry no such condition.
Can a financial MCP server place trades?
None of the three here can — they read filings, prices and screens and route no orders. Servers that write exist elsewhere in the catalogue. QuantConnect's lets a model create projects, run backtests and deploy live algorithms, while Vibe-Trading deliberately keeps its order-placing tools off its MCP server. Know which kind you installed before you connect it.
