DividendMax

Analyst dividend forecasts for UK, European and US shares, with an income planner on top.

Best for UK income investors who want each future dividend forecast by date and amount before it is declared, and a portfolio income plan built on those forecasts; not for broker import, US-only portfolios or a cheap tracker.

What it is

DividendMax is a dividend forecasting service for private investors, run by DividendMax Ltd in the UK and dating from 2011. Its product is a database of future dividends: for each covered company, an analyst's estimate of the declaration, ex-dividend, record and pay dates and the amount of every upcoming payment, revised as news arrives. Three tools sit on it. Countdown is a 13-week calendar of declared and estimated payments, filterable by sector, index and country. Generator tracks your portfolios and forecasts their monthly income two years out, converted to one currency. Optimizer ranks stocks by forecast yield, filtered by market cap, dividend cover, performance and duration — the vendor's page calls it "AI-driven" and describes no AI.

That makes it a research product with a tracker attached rather than the reverse: the reason to pay is a forecast for a payment nobody has declared yet.

Pricing

Premium is £17.95 a month, cancel anytime, or £179 a year. Free is email notifications only. A free trial is offered from every page; its length is not stated on the pricing page (the founder's letter on the about page, dated September 2020, says one month). Billing is in pounds.

Data & coverage

The homepage claims over 2,200 shares across the UK, EU and US; the accuracy page says over 1,600. The coverage list filters by 33 countries, from the UK and US through Germany, France and the Nordics to Hong Kong, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, and includes investment trusts, REITs and ETFs as sectors. Premium members can ask for a missing share to be added. No quote latency is stated.

Integrations

None. Holdings go into Generator by hand; there is no broker connection, no file import, no export and no API. The vendor's help centre sits behind a bot checkpoint.

Limitations

  • No import at all. A large portfolio is a typing job, and keeping it current is another.
  • The forecast horizon is stated three different ways on three of the vendor's own pages.
  • The accuracy chart is the vendor's own, with no date, sample size or method.
  • Coverage centres on the UK — the homepage's popular searches are FTSE names — and US and European coverage is a subset of each market, not all of it.
  • The weekly digest and news articles carry the team's commentary on shares. That is editorial, not a tool, and this card is about the forecast database.

Alternatives

Snowball Analytics and Digrin project income from declared dividends and history and import from brokers. Sharesight covers UK tax reporting, which this does not attempt.

FAQ

How accurate are DividendMax dividend forecasts?

By the vendor's own published chart, 13.7% of predictions are exactly right and 50.9% land within 10% of the declared amount. About 3.9% miss by more than 100%. The chart is undated, gives no sample size and does not say whether it measures the first forecast or the last revision before declaration.

Where does DividendMax's forecast data come from?

From analysts, with the forecast data supplied by Woodseer Global, a sister company the founder set up in 2016. Estimates are built from stated dividend policy, announcements, payment history, changes in share capital and analyst sentiment, and are revised as the declaration date approaches.

How far ahead does DividendMax forecast?

The vendor's pages disagree. The accuracy page says up to four years ahead for each payment's declaration, ex, record and pay dates and amount. The homepage says 2+ years, the Generator page plans income 2 years ahead, and the Countdown calendar covers the next 13 weeks.

Is DividendMax free?

Only the email notifications — a message when a company you track declares and pays a dividend. The forecasts and all three tools are Premium, at £17.95 a month or £179 a year.
