Screener.in

Query-language screener and ten years of financials for NSE and BSE listed companies.

Best for investors in Indian listed companies who want to screen on ten years of fundamentals and pull them into Excel; not for US or other foreign stocks, intraday trading, or an API.

What it is

Screener.in was built in 2009 by two chartered-accountant brothers, Ayush and Pratyush Mittal, and is run by Mittal Analytics Private Ltd in Lucknow. It covers companies listed on NSE and BSE and nothing else.

There are two halves. The company page is ten years of annual statements and ratios, recent quarters, shareholding, peers, and the annual reports and announcements linked from BSE and NSE - which is why it sits with the fundamentals research tools as well. The screener is a typed query rather than a grid of dropdowns: Market capitalization > 500 AND Price to earning < 15 AND Return on capital employed > 22%, run over "10 years of financial data", with custom ratios you define and reuse as columns. The vendor's own guide counts over 50,000 user-made public screens to start from, and the popular ones are not all fundamental: 50/200-day moving-average crossovers and RSI under 30 sit beside Magic Formula and Piotroski scans.

A saved screen can email you when a new company or result enters it. Screener AI answers questions from a company's annual reports and earnings calls, and the annual-report page carries AI summaries with an "Outlook" badge; both are machine summaries of the company's own documents, not ratings.

Pricing

Hobby Investor is free with an account; Active Investor is ₹4,999 a year with GST included. No monthly price is listed, and the refund window is 48 hours. When premium lapses the account keeps working and existing alerts keep firing; you cannot add new ones.

From the plan table on 7 October 2026, premium raises stock alerts from 10 to 800, screen alerts from 2 to 75, comparison columns from 15 to 55 and followed companies from 50 to unlimited. It adds Download Results on screens, the industry filter, segment results, multiple watchlists, a search for anyone owning over 1% of a company, and ₹500 of Screener AI credit. "Unlimited" carries the vendor's own asterisk for internal limits on emails and columns.

Data & coverage

India only. NSE and BSE listed companies, listed Indian ETFs such as Nifty BeES and Gold BeES, and pages for NSE and BSE indices. A company page shows the BSE code and NSE symbol side by side and, for F&O-enabled stocks, a link out to the exchange's derivatives page - the contracts themselves are not on Screener. Annual figures on a large-cap page run back to March 2015; quarterly columns cover about three years. Fundamentals data is credited to C-MOTS Internet Technologies.

Integrations

Excel is the integration. Any company's data exports to a workbook on the free plan, and "Excel Automation" lets you upload a customised template so every later export lands in your layout. Exporting a screen's results needs premium. There is no documented API, no webhooks and no add-in pulling live values. Alerts arrive by email - "delayed" on free, "prioritised" on premium. The footer offers an installable web app; no app-store listing is linked.

Limitations

  • No foreign stocks. Not US listings, not ADRs, not other Asian markets.
  • No API, and narrow terms. The terms of service, last updated August 2018, grant personal, non-commercial viewing only and bar copying the materials or using them commercially or for public display. An export is for your own analysis, not for feeding a product.
  • Accuracy is disclaimed. The terms call the data automatically curated and "prone to errors of automation", and the pros and cons on each company page are labelled machine-generated.
  • No intraday tooling. Daily price charts, prices a few minutes behind, no real-time scan, no options chain and no backtesting of screens.
  • Not a portfolio tracker. Holdings mean followed companies and watchlists; the plan table lists no cost basis, broker import or tax reporting.

Alternatives

TradingView is the answer when the chart matters more than the ten-year statement, or when the watchlist crosses borders. GuruFocus sells an India/Pakistan region as a separate add-on. For US stocks the equivalent jobs belong to Finviz Elite and Stock Rover. Why the same query returns different lists on two screeners is covered in why two screeners disagree.

FAQ

Does Screener.in cover US stocks?

No. On 7 October 2026 a search for Apple returned only Indian companies with Apple in their names, and searches for Microsoft and Nvidia returned nothing. The database is companies listed on NSE and BSE, plus listed Indian ETFs and NSE and BSE index pages.

Is Screener.in free?

Screening, custom ratios and the Excel export of a single company's data are free with an account. Premium is one plan, Active Investor, at ₹4,999 a year including GST; it adds downloading a screen's results, the industry filter, segment results, unlimited followed companies, 800 stock alerts instead of 10 and 75 screen alerts instead of 2.

Does Screener.in have an API?

Not a documented one. The integration it sells is Excel - export a company's data, rearrange the sheet, upload it back, and every later export comes out in that layout. The terms of service also limit use of the site's materials to personal, non-commercial viewing.

Where does Screener.in get its data?

The footer credits C-MOTS Internet Technologies Pvt Ltd. The terms say the feed is sourced and curated by automated algorithms from various sources and disclaim its accuracy. Price charts are labelled as the NSE price, and the documents tab links filings on the BSE and NSE sites.

Are Screener.in prices real-time?

Not quite. The price on a company page carries a timestamp, and three archived captures taken during NSE trading hours in 2026 showed it 7 to 8 minutes behind the moment of capture. Price charts are daily bars, with 1 month as the shortest range.
