What it is

Stock Rover is a fundamental screener and portfolio analytics workspace that runs in the browser — no download, no desktop client. The screener is why most people subscribe: 400+ metrics at the entry tier and 800+ at the top, a library of 150+ prebuilt value, growth, dividend, guru and academic screens — Piotroski F-Score, Altman Z-Score, Greenblatt, Lynch — ranked screening with per-metric weights, and scoring a portfolio or watchlist against a screener's criteria rather than just filtering with it. A plain-language screener builder that drafts real criteria into the editor is the platform's one AI feature.

The other half is portfolio management, and plenty of subscribers buy Stock Rover for that alone: brokerage sync, IRR and time-weighted returns side by side, Sharpe, beta and drawdown against the S&P 500, rebalancing, correlation and Monte Carlo simulation. Those analytics are on every paid tier, which is unusual — what the upper tiers buy is history and headroom, not features. Hence the second listing in portfolio trackers.

Pricing

Four paid tiers, separated by history depth and metric count rather than by features. Premium: 400+ metrics, 5-year fundamentals, 10-year prices. Premium Plus: 700+, 10-year fundamentals, 20-year prices, plus equation and historical screening, 30 custom metrics and dark mode. Ultimate: 800+, 20-year fundamentals, 30-year dividends, real-time quotes, OTC tickers and the options chain. Ultimate Pro buys no extra data at all — only bigger limits.

Headline prices assume annual billing ($29, $49, $79, $149 a month); month to month it is $34, $70, $99 and $199, and a two-year commitment takes it to $24, $42, $69 and $129. Two things the price grid does not show: Research Reports are a separate $50 subscription on Premium, included from Premium Plus up, and the phone hotline is another $50 below Ultimate. Stock Rover states plainly that it does not issue refunds, so the 14-day trial is the whole of your recourse.

The trial takes no card and reverts to the free account rather than billing you, with two catches: trial members cannot export tables to CSV, and they get 20 Research Reports and 5 Stock Ratings rather than the full set.

Data & coverage

US and Canada only, and the headline number needs reading twice. The comparison page prints "14,000+ North American stocks" against every tier, but the per-plan bullets put Premium at 8,500+ stocks and describe Ultimate as adding OTC screening and "~6,000 additional tickers" — so the 14,000 is a top-tier figure. On top of that, 7,000 ETFs and 40,000 mutual funds; ETF and fund reports are a sample below Ultimate. Options can be held as priced positions from Premium Plus upwards — 5 there, 100 on Ultimate, 1,000 on Ultimate Pro — but option and insider metrics and the full chain begin at Ultimate. Premium prices no options at all.

Integrations

Brokerage links run through Yodlee, read-only, and they refresh nightly with a manual re-sync button — not a live feed. Interactive Brokers is the exception: it does not work with Yodlee, so Stock Rover takes a direct feed that you have to request yourself by emailing IB with your account number. Connections are capped at 2 on Premium, 5 on Premium Plus and 15 on Ultimate, and Brokerage Connect is one of the few things the free account keeps. Everything else is one-way and manual: CSV export metered at 10, 90, 500 and 2,500 files a month, scheduled performance reports by email, and price, fundamental, technical and earnings alerts by email and SMS.

Limitations

  • No API: data leaves only as metered CSV.
  • US and Canada only.
  • Real-time quotes begin at Ultimate. The plan comparison marks them absent on Premium and Premium Plus, so the feed a new subscriber actually buys is delayed, and that is what this card records.
  • The entry tier is metered where it matters: 20 scores and 10 ratings a month outside the Dow 30 is a handful of lookups a week, not a research allowance.
  • No tax or realised-gain reporting, where most portfolio trackers earn their keep.
  • No backtesting and no intraday scanning — a fundamentals tool, not a trading screen.

Alternatives

Finviz Elite is faster and cheaper for a quick screen and far shallower on fundamentals. Koyfin covers international listings that Stock Rover does not, and has no brokerage link at all. For tracking with tax lots, start from the portfolio trackers listing instead.

FAQ

Which Stock Rover plan do you actually need?

The tiers differ mainly in depth of history and breadth of metrics. Premium gives 400+ metrics, 5 years of fundamentals and 10 years of price history; Premium Plus raises that to 700+ metrics, 10 years of fundamentals and 20 years of prices, and adds equation-based and historical screening, custom metrics and dark mode; Ultimate reaches 800+ metrics, 20 years of fundamentals, 30 years of dividends, real-time quotes, OTC tickers and the options chain. Ultimate Pro adds no data, only larger limits.

What does the cheapest Stock Rover plan not include?

More than the feature list suggests. Premium has no equation or historical screening, no custom metrics, no valuation or ratio charts, no dark mode, and no OTC tickers — and its scoring is metered, at 20 Fair Value, Stock Score and Investor Warning lookups a month plus the Dow 30, and 10 Stock Ratings a month plus the Dow 30. Research Reports on Premium are a separate $50 subscription rather than an included feature.

Does Stock Rover have an API?

No. There is no public API and the plan comparison lists none. Data leaves the product as CSV export, capped by plan at 10, 90, 500 or 2,500 exports per month — and trial accounts cannot export at all, which Stock Rover attributes to a licensing restriction.

Are Stock Rover quotes real-time?

Only on the two top tiers, if you go by the plan comparison — it lists real-time quotes for Ultimate and Ultimate Pro, marks them absent for Premium and Premium Plus, and the plans page qualifies them as real-time where available. A Stock Rover support article says something different, namely that quotes are real-time for most stocks, with about five minutes of delay on obscure names and fifteen on Canadian and micro-cap ones. That article never mentions plans and predates the current tier structure, so this card follows the plan comparison, which is the page a subscriber is sold from.

Does Stock Rover cover markets outside North America?

No. Coverage is US and Canadian listings plus 7,000 ETFs and 40,000 mutual funds. There are no European or Asian listings at any price.
