Stockopedia

UK-first fundamental screener with Quality, Value and Momentum ranks on every stock.

Best for UK and European private investors who screen on fundamentals and want a factor rank on every share; not for real-time trading, an API, price-history downloads or building your own ranking model.

What it is

Stockopedia is a subscription research site for private investors, built in the UK and still strongest there. The screener is the core: 350+ ratios to filter on, 65 prebuilt "GuruScreens" codifying published strategies (Piotroski F-Score, Greenblatt, Slater's Zulu Principle) with their tracked performance, and the option to compare stocks against sector and market averages.

Every stock that qualifies gets a StockRank from 0 to 100. Quality blends long-term ROCE, gross profitability, free cash flow to assets, margin and sales stability, leverage, and the F-, Z- and M-Scores. Value blends six ratios — P/E, P/S, P/B, P/FCF, earnings yield and dividend yield. Momentum blends price strength (52-week-high proximity, 50/200-day averages, 6- and 12-month relative strength) with estimate upgrades, earnings surprises and broker recommendation changes. Around that sit one-page StockReports with six years of history and three of forecasts, Folios for portfolio tracking, charts, and alerts on price or any screenable ratio, including the rank itself.

Pricing

Pricing is set by how many regions you buy, not by feature tier: every plan unlocks every tool. One region is £32 a month or £295 a year; all six are £105 or £975. Europe (including the UK) is priced as two regions on its own. The trial is 14 days and takes a card; after it, a 30-day money-back guarantee applies to the first payment.

Data & coverage

Fundamentals, estimates and prices come mostly from Refinitiv (LSEG), with director dealings from Smart Insider. The vendor counts about 2,000 UK securities, 10,000 US, 9,000 in Europe including the UK, 2,500 each in Canada and Australasia, 7,500 in Developed Asia and 3,500 in India. Ratios are batch-computed overnight; Stockopedia puts StockReports 48–96 hours behind a results announcement, longer for small caps in busy seasons. ETFs get quotes and price history in the UK and US only.

Integrations

None to speak of. Folios import from a CSV in Stockopedia's own template — there is no broker link — and screen and Folio tables export to Excel or CSV. No API, no add-in, browser only.

Limitations

  • The ranks are fixed formulas. They are mechanical factor composites, not an analyst verdict, but you cannot reweight them or build your own; and a stock with no broker coverage is ranked on price momentum alone.
  • Editorial is bundled in. Every plan includes a daily UK results commentary by named writers, weekly share ideas and a model portfolio. It is commentary, but it is opinion sold alongside the data, and it is UK-centric.
  • Delayed quotes and overnight ratios. Real-time pricing is not offered.
  • No price-history download, and US and Canadian prices are not adjusted for spin-offs, special dividends or rights issues.
  • Gaps in the ranking universe. Investment trusts are excluded, as are companies with no annual statement within three years.
  • No backtesting. GuruScreen performance is tracked, but you cannot test your own rules.
  • Personal use only. The terms prohibit redistribution, scraping and automated collection.

Alternatives

Portfolio123 lets you build and backtest your own ranking system on US, Canadian and European stocks, though custom ranks start at its $1,000-a-year tier. Stock Rover is deeper on portfolio analytics but covers only the US and Canada. Koyfin is a research terminal over global equities, funds, macro and estimates, without the UK-centric editorial layer. GuruFocus is likewise sold by region, with thirty years of financials.

FAQ

Is the StockRank an analyst rating?

No. Stockopedia's own methodology pages describe it as arithmetic — each stock is ranked 1 to 100 on each underlying ratio, the ranks are averaged into Quality, Value and Momentum scores, and the three are blended equally into the StockRank. No Stockopedia analyst sets or adjusts it. One Momentum input is the month's change in consensus broker recommendations, so third-party brokers' opinions do enter as data.

How much does Stockopedia cost?

Pricing is by region. One region is £32 a month or £295 a year; all six regions are £105 a month or £975 a year. Europe including the UK counts as two regions, so £50 a month or £450 a year. Prices are also shown in EUR, USD and AUD.

Is there a free plan?

No. There is a 14-day trial that needs a payment card, and a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first payment.

Can I download Stockopedia data?

Screen results and Folio tables export to Excel or CSV. Price histories cannot be downloaded at all, which Stockopedia attributes to licensing restrictions, and there is no API.

Are Stockopedia prices real-time?

No. Intraday quotes are delayed, and every ratio and rank is recomputed overnight from the previous close, so a valuation does not move with an intraday price fall.
