What it is

Wisesheets puts financial data behind four worksheet functions instead of a website. WISE returns statement lines, key metrics, dividends, segment and geographic revenues and analyst estimates for a year, a quarter or TTM; WISEPRICE live and historical prices and dividend dates; WISEFUNDS fund fields such as NAV and expense ratio; WISEOPTIONS chains, strikes, bids and greeks, live or as of a past date. A Statement Dump button drops a whole statement or metrics table onto the sheet, annual or quarterly, standardised or exactly as filed with the SEC.

All four take ranges rather than single arguments — a column of tickers, a row of parameters, a row of periods — which is the difference between one call and four hundred, and what decides whether a model of any size is workable.

Pricing

Two plans, billed once a year, with no monthly option anywhere on the page: Pro at $60/year and Elite at $120/year, both individual-use licences with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Elite buys options data, the screener's Get List filter, priority support and "faster data speeds" — a claim with no number attached. Enterprise is quoted and is the only tier carrying a commercial-use licence. A free trial starts with an email address; the vendor publishes no terms for it.

The quota question has an unusually clean answer: there isn't one. The docs say Wisesheets imposes no data quotas, and that the only cap is Google's own limit of 20,000 URL fetches a day on a regular account, 100,000 on a paid Workspace one. Excel has no equivalent limit. Abuse is policed after the fact — an account making too many simultaneous requests may be frozen.

Data & coverage

Fundamentals are standardised from the companies' own reports against the XBRL US GAAP Taxonomy Preparers Guide; no upstream aggregator is named. The published exchange list runs past fifty venues, from NYSE and Nasdaq to TSX, LSE, Xetra, Euronext, NSE, Tadawul, JPX, HKEX and ASX, addressed with Yahoo Finance's ticker suffixes — SAP.DE, RY.TO, 7203.T. Beyond equities and funds: roughly 4,700 cryptocurrencies, 1,540 currency pairs, 190 indices and 40 commodity futures, price data only.

Read the depth claim twice. The site advertises data "going back up to 30 years"; the Statement Dump documentation says it returns the last 19 years or 72 quarters. Analyst estimates run to 2029, and consensus price targets are current-value only.

Integrations

Portfolio Connect pulls holdings and transaction history from more than 30 brokers through SnapTrade into the sheet, so the portfolio sits in the same file as the analysis. A trending panel shows gainers, losers and most-active names with prices, ratios, US filings and news headlines — inside the add-on, not as a function.

Since 24 July 2026 the vendor also sells a separate REST API with an MCP server, free to $39 a month. Same fundamentals, SEC filers only, and an add-in subscription does not include it.

Limitations

• Non-US tickers do not get every field: SEC as-reported statements, segment revenues and geographic revenues exist only for companies that file with the SEC.
• Desktop Excel needs an Office 365 subscription before custom functions work at all.
• Large requests fail rather than queue — Google Sheets returns an error, Excel says "too many simultaneous requests" — and the repair is a Refresh Errors button run afterwards. Refresh Data updates live prices, TTM metrics and fund fields only.
• Excel workbooks kept on OneDrive come back with _xludf_ prefixes in the function cells, and the vendor's advice is to save locally — awkward for a file anyone else opens.
• The licence is per person: sharing access is forbidden by the terms, and a colleague needs their own subscription and installation to recalculate anything.
• "Live" prices carry no published delay and Elite's faster speeds no number, while the vendor's own API product, on the same data, calls its quotes 15-minute delayed.

Alternatives

Financial Modeling Prep ships an official Google Sheets add-on over its API, free at 250 calls a day, but has no Excel add-in and makes you think in endpoints. Koyfin and Stock Rover answer the same job with screens rather than cells, at several times the price.
