The product

We list Kubera ourselves, and its card is the full account of it: pricing, aggregators, coverage, the API and the MCP server, and its limits, verified in September 2026. Its prices were re-read on the vendor's homepage on 9 October 2026 and had not moved. This page does not replace the card. It answers the narrower question a Kubera user, or a prospective one, asks once the annual bill or one of its limits comes up: what else does this job, and what does leaving cost.

Kubera tracks net worth, not a trading portfolio. Bank and brokerage accounts arrive through nine aggregators — Plaid, Mastercard, MX, Yodlee, Akoya, SnapTrade, Lean, Akahu and Salt Edge, chosen per institution — which is why its reach runs past North America to the UK, most of Europe, India, Singapore, the UAE, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Crypto comes from exchange API keys and wallet addresses read on-chain. Everything with no feed behind it — a house, a car, a private stake — is a row you add by hand or describe to its AI Appraiser. On top sit a personal API that reads and writes, an official MCP server, and account sharing with family or an adviser. Essentials is 250 dollars a year and Black, which adds ownership tags and nested portfolios per person or entity, 2,500.

The reasons a holder looks elsewhere:

  • 250 a year, annual only, nothing free. There is no monthly option, and the trial in front costs a dollar.
  • The numbers are end of day. Kubera polls its aggregator every thirty minutes, but the aggregator reaches the bank once every day or two, and a new trade takes two to three days to settle into the totals.
  • Two-factor connections do not auto-sync. Many need a manual sync and a fresh code each time, and the vendor's own help page opens by saying 100 percent connectivity is impossible.
  • Not a tax tool. The Tax Estimate is a what-if on unrealised gains, with no cost-basis report a preparer could use.
  • Your holdings are at one broker. Then most of what the subscription pays for — the aggregator stack, manual assets, entities — goes unused.

What to use instead

The reader comparing Kubera with Empower's free dashboard is usually asking the same question from the other side; what to use instead of Empower Personal Dashboard lists Kubera itself as the closest replacement, and is worth reading next to this page.

If you want the net-worth view without the bill. Wealthfolio is the closest in scope: investments, net worth, liabilities and spending in a free app for desktop, iOS, Android or your own Docker host, with a native MCP server. Automatic sync is its Connect add-on, which goes through SnapTrade once a day — 79 dollars a year for five institutions. getquin gives unlimited bank and broker connections and one live net-worth figure for free, but it is built for European brokers, prices from a German venue, and lets nothing out.

If the mix is stocks and crypto. Delta syncs brokers, exchanges and wallets read-only into one valuation view, and started as a crypto tracker; the free plan stops at ten assets and PRO+ is 13.99 a month for unlimited. A book that is mostly wallets and exchange accounts is outside this catalogue's scope and belongs to our sister site, CryptoMarkets.tools.

If you would rather own the data than rent the sync. Ghostfolio is AGPL on your own Docker server, or hosted for 48 dollars a year, tracking holdings, liabilities and property across brokers and currencies. Portfolio Performance is a free desktop application that reads your banks' PDF statements and computes true time-weighted return and IRR. Neither syncs with a broker; that is the price of keeping it local. Ghostfolio vs Portfolio Performance vs Wealthfolio splits the three, and the self-hosted collection lists the rest.

If your accounts are German. Parqet imports German, Austrian and Swiss broker statements and carries cash, crypto and property as other assets, with a read-only MCP server. The free plan caps those other assets at five, so a real net-worth picture means Plus at 99.99 euros a year.

If what you actually need is a tax report. That is not Kubera's job and not a net-worth tracker's. Sharesight computes money-weighted returns with dividends and produces tax reports a revenue authority recognises in Australia, New Zealand and Canada; it is free for ten holdings.

What you give up

Aggregation across countries and institution types. Nine aggregators routed per institution is the thing no pick here replicates. getquin connects broadly in Europe; Wealthfolio's Connect and Delta reach brokers and exchanges; Ghostfolio, Portfolio Performance and Parqet's PDF route are imports you run yourself. A household with a US brokerage, a UK pension and an Indian bank account will feel this first.

A value for things with no ticker. Kubera's AI Appraiser looks up property by address in the US, Canada, UK and Australia and vehicles by VIN in the US and Canada, about once a month. Every pick that carries property or a car carries it as a number you type and update yourself.

An API that writes, and an MCP server. Kubera's personal API can create and update assets and post cash flows, and its MCP server serves ChatGPT, Claude and others read-only. Wealthfolio has a native MCP server, Parqet a read-only one, and Ghostfolio an API and an experimental MCP server switched off by default; Sharesight has an API from its Standard plan; getquin, Delta and Portfolio Performance have none.

Entities and shared access. Sharing the account with family, an accountant or an adviser is in Kubera's Essentials plan; per-person portfolios are Black. Wealthfolio's two-person Connect Duo plan is the nearest household feature among the picks.

Migration notes

Pull your data through the API before the subscription ends. Kubera's export path is its personal API and a markdown export, not a spreadsheet of history. Take the current holdings and values out while the key still works.

Manual rows come across by hand. Property, vehicles, private stakes and anything appraised inside Kubera are rows you will retype, with your own valuation, in whichever tool you move to.

Decide between transactions and holdings before importing. Wealthfolio, for one, tracks an account either from every trade — which earns cost basis and return attribution — or from current positions, which tracks value only. Portfolio Performance and Ghostfolio want the transaction history. A balance-sheet tracker like Kubera never needed it, so you may have to fetch it from each broker — see importing a broker CSV into a portfolio tracker.

Expect the totals not to match on day one. Different price sources, FX rates and settlement lags will move the figure; why your tracker and broker disagree covers which of those is a bug and which is a definition.

FAQ

Is there a free alternative to Kubera?

For tracking, several. Wealthfolio, Ghostfolio and Portfolio Performance are open source and free, and getquin's free plan includes unlimited bank and broker connections. What the free options drop is the automatic sync of a mixed set of institutions — Wealthfolio's sync is a paid add-on, and Ghostfolio and Portfolio Performance have none at all.

Does Kubera have a monthly plan?

No. On the vendor's homepage read on 9 October 2026, Essentials is 250 dollars a year and Black 2,500 a year, both annual, with a 14-day trial in front that the card records as costing a non-refundable dollar. There is no free tier at either level.

Is there an open-source alternative to Kubera?

Ghostfolio is AGPL and self-hosted on Docker, Wealthfolio is AGPL and keeps everything in a local file, and Portfolio Performance is EPL and runs on the desktop. All three track investments across brokers and currencies; none reaches a bank by itself in the free version, and none appraises a house or a car for you.

Which alternative handles crypto alongside stocks?

Delta was built as a crypto tracker and still goes deepest there, with exchange and wallet connections beside brokers. Wealthfolio, Ghostfolio, getquin and Parqet carry crypto as an asset class. A book that is mostly wallets and exchange accounts is outside this catalogue's scope and belongs to our sister site, CryptoMarkets.tools.
