What it is

Kubera tracks net worth, not a trading portfolio. Bank and brokerage accounts arrive through aggregators, crypto comes from exchange API keys and wallet addresses read on-chain, and everything with no feed behind it — a house, a car, a domain, an LP position, a watch — is a row you add by hand or describe to the AI Appraiser, which is the point of the product. It answers what you own and what it is worth today, across entities and currencies, not how a trade went.

Pricing

Annual only, and there is no free tier at any level: $250 a year for Essentials, $2,500 for Black, both quoted on the vendor's own pricing section on 14 September 2026. The 14-day trial in front of them is not free either — it costs a non-refundable $1, and it converts only when you subscribe deliberately. Black buys access control and entity structure — ownership tags, nested portfolios per person or trust, guided onboarding, VIP support — not more data. Sharing the whole account with family, an accountant or an advisor is already in Essentials; what Black adds is access control per portfolio. For someone whose holdings sit at one broker, it is a lot of money for the half of the product they never open.

Data & coverage

Connections run through a stack of nine aggregators — Plaid, Mastercard, MX, Yodlee, Akoya, SnapTrade, Lean, Akahu and Salt Edge, chosen per institution automatically — which is why coverage reaches past North America to the UK and Ireland, most of the EU and EEA, Switzerland, Mexico, India, Singapore, the UAE, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The vendor publishes the institution list itself and counts it in the thousands. Holdings with no connector behind them can still be priced by ticker: the published exchange table covers 59 venues in 44 countries, Indian mutual funds included.

Refresh is daily, not live: Kubera polls Plaid every thirty minutes, Plaid reaches the bank once every day or two, and new trades take two to three days to settle into the numbers.

When an institution will not connect — and the vendor's own help page opens by saying 100% connectivity is impossible — the documented fallback is Web Sync, a Chrome extension that reads the balance off the bank's own page while you are logged in and writes it to a manual row. A Connectivity Center scores every connection's uptime so the bad ones are findable, and the same help page offers to cancel and refund in full if the connections you needed are among them.

Integrations

A personal API under Settings > API, at v3, which reads portfolios and also writes — creating, updating and archiving assets and debts, and posting cash-flow entries — capped at 600 requests a minute and 6,000 a day on Essentials or 24,000 on Black. Alongside it an official MCP server lets ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Perplexity query live net worth, and a markdown export covers local models.

Limitations

  • Automated valuation runs through Kubera's own AI Appraiser and refreshes roughly once a month, not continuously. Address lookup for property covers the US, Canada, UK and Australia and VIN lookup for vehicles covers the US and Canada; everything else — watches, art, aircraft, domains — is a description you write and an estimate it returns.
  • No free tier and no monthly billing — the entry ticket is a full year, and the trial in front of it costs $1.
  • Not a tax tool. The Tax Estimate approximates what you would owe if you liquidated today; there is no cost-basis reporting you could hand to a preparer.
  • Many connections protected by two-factor authentication do not auto-sync at all: they need a manual Sync Account and a fresh code each time.
  • Kubera's own AI offers no opinions: it appraises assets and reads PDFs and screenshots into rows. Anything resembling advice comes from whichever chatbot you connect over MCP, and Kubera says outright that it sells software rather than financial products.

Alternatives

Empower's Personal Dashboard covers US accounts at no charge and earns its keep by selling wealth management. Monarch Money is the cheaper, budgeting-first answer. Sharesight is the different purchase entirely if what you need is dividend and capital-gains reporting.

Compare it against the rest of the portfolio trackers.

FAQ

Does Kubera have a free plan?

No. Billing is annual only, at $250 a year for Essentials and $2,500 a year for Black, with no monthly option. The 14-day trial that comes first costs a non-refundable $1, and it does not roll into a subscription — you pick a plan yourself afterwards or the account's connections are cut.

Which countries' banks and brokerages does Kubera connect to?

Kubera routes connections through nine aggregators — Plaid, Mastercard, MX, Yodlee, Akoya, SnapTrade, Lean, Akahu and Salt Edge — and picks one per institution automatically. Its published list covers the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, most of the EU and EEA, Switzerland, Norway, Mexico, India, Singapore, the UAE, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. That list is published as a spreadsheet rather than a searchable page.

What happens if my bank or brokerage will not connect?

Kubera's own help page says 100% connectivity is impossible and tells you to report the failure rather than reconnect yourself. The documented fallback is Web Sync, a Chrome extension that reads the balance off the institution's own page while you are logged in and syncs it into a manually tracked row; a Connectivity Center in settings scores each live connection's uptime. The same page offers to cancel the subscription and refund it in full if stable connectivity is what you were buying.

How current are the numbers in Kubera?

End of day for banks and investment accounts, not live. Kubera checks its aggregator every thirty minutes, but the aggregator reaches the bank only once every day or two, and a new trade or cash movement takes two to three days to settle into the totals. Connections protected by two-factor authentication do not auto-sync at all — each refresh needs a manual Sync Account and a fresh code.

Can ChatGPT or Claude read my Kubera portfolio?

Yes, through Kubera's own MCP server, which the vendor documents as a connector for ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Perplexity and Cursor and as a plain MCP endpoint for anything else. It exposes net worth, portfolio contents, CAGR, history and top movers read-only. The data is static per chat session, so a change in Kubera needs a fresh session to show up, and a markdown export covers assistants that cannot connect at all.

Can Kubera do my taxes?

No. Its Tax Estimate is a what-if on unrealized gains, and the vendor's own help page says it is not meant to be a sharp tax planning tool. There are no realized-gain or filing reports, so a dividend and capital-gains tool is a separate purchase.
