What to use instead of Roi

Roi, the iOS net-worth app with an AI assistant, closed on 15 October 2025 after OpenAI bought it. What now covers its account linking and its AI.

The product

Roi was a phone app for people with money in too many places. Its home page, captured by the Internet Archive on 15 August 2025, called it "Your AI financial assistant" and sold it as a way to "track, trade, and grow your net worth with your existing accounts". You linked brokerages and banks through Plaid, exchanges such as Coinbase, and self-custody wallets through WalletConnect, and Roi priced the lot in one net-worth view; the same page claimed support for over 1,000 brokerages and banks, Robinhood, Fidelity, Charles Schwab and E*Trade named among them. Cash, real estate and collectibles went in alongside, with dividend projections, allocation breakdowns and benchmark comparisons on top. It ran on iOS only, by its own FAQ, and the site's footer named the publisher as Vega Corp.

The AI was the headline: "personalized, real-time AI financial analysis, research and education", in other words a chat that already knew what you held because it sat on your linked accounts. Roi also forwarded buy and sell orders to the brokerages you had connected, and offered copy trading of published portfolios.

What happened. The dates come from Roi's own pages, as archived.

  • 3 October 2025. The home page was replaced by a notice headed "Roi has been acquired by OpenAI", signed by its four members, which said Roi would wind down operations that month "with our final day of service on October 15, 2025". The Internet Archive captured the shutdown FAQ at 22:15 UTC that day, marked as updated that day, and the home-page notice minutes after midnight UTC, still 3 October in New York. The FAQ stopped new subscriptions, told users to download their financial data before the shutdown, promised that remaining data would be permanently deleted within 30 days of it, and said OpenAI would have no access to it. Stripe subscriptions were to be refunded automatically for the unused part; Apple ones had to be refunded through Apple.
  • By 6 October 2025. The FAQ had added Roi's own recommendations: Monarch Money, a budgeting and tracking app this catalogue does not list, with instructions for importing the Roi CSV into it, and a separate copy-trading app. The download itself was described by then as a CSV, sent as an emailed link triggered from inside the app.
  • 15 October 2025. The last day of service.

Twelve days of notice. Roi's notice says "we're thrilled to join OpenAI", over all four names, and no more. TechCrunch reported on 3 October 2025, citing one unnamed source, that only the chief executive was joining and that terms were not disclosed. Roi itself never said which it was.

What to use instead

Expect to rebuild rather than switch. Roi did its jobs from one set of linked accounts, and nothing in this catalogue does all of them in one iPhone app, so split them.

Linked accounts and one net-worth number. Kubera is the nearest in scope: banks, brokerages, crypto wallets and property on one balance sheet, connected through several aggregators rather than one, with iPhone and Android apps. It is also the most expensive pick here, 250 dollars a year with no free tier on the vendor's homepage on 27 October 2026. getquin is the only pick that links banks and brokers for nothing: its free plan carries unlimited bank and broker connections, and its help centre documents Robinhood, Fidelity, E-Trade, Tastytrade and Chase. It is built in Berlin for European investors, though, prices US holdings from a German venue, and has no export at all.

Holdings across brokers and wallets, on the phone. Delta syncs brokers, exchanges and wallets read-only, and its App Store listing on 27 October 2026 put unlimited connections on the free Basic plan, with 10 tracked assets before the paywall. It is the nearest pick to the stocks-plus-crypto mix that several testimonials on Roi's own home page singled out. A book that is mostly wallets and exchange accounts belongs to our sister site, CryptoMarkets.tools.

Asking questions in plain language. Wealthfolio has a built-in assistant that, by its documentation, answers questions about positions, accounts, cash, performance and income by querying your local database, with a model run on your machine through Ollama or your own key for a hosted one. Stock Events has an AI chat that answers from whichever watchlist you have selected, such as which holdings weigh most or pay the most dividends. Delta's assistant writes summaries personalised to your holdings, metered by the month. Kubera and Snowball Analytics take the other route: you bring ChatGPT or Claude and connect it over MCP. Parqet has a read-only MCP server too, but it is built around German brokers. The AI tools collection lists the rest.

Dividends. If the screen you opened most was Roi's projected dividend income, Snowball Analytics is built around that: a payout calendar and forward income, with brokerage linking from its paid Starter plan.

The trading half has no pick. Every product here is a tracker and places no orders, and copy trading is outside what this catalogue covers.

What you give up

Banks, brokers, exchanges and wallets in one iOS app. Roi's pitch was every account behind one login, and its help centre documented a Premium plan, so do not remember it as free. Among the picks, getquin is the only one that links both banks and brokers on a free plan, and it is a European product with a German price feed. Kubera links everything and costs 250 dollars a year. Delta's free plan reaches brokers, exchanges and wallets but its App Store listing names no banks, and it stops at 10 assets.

An assistant that already knew your accounts. Roi's AI came with the app and sat on top of the connections you had made. Stock Events and Delta come closest, and both ration it: five messages a day free on Stock Events, three uses a month on Delta's free plan, per Stock Events' pricing page and Delta's App Store listing on 27 October 2026. Wealthfolio's assistant is free but needs a model you run or pay for. getquin keeps its AI analysis for Premium, at 89.99 euros a year, and its AI agents for Wealth, at 149.99, on its pricing page the same day. Snowball's MCP server is only on Expert, 249.99 dollars a year on its pricing page on 27 October 2026, and Kubera's needs the annual subscription.

Trading from the same screen. Roi sent orders to the brokerages you had linked, so you could look and act without switching apps. None of the picks does. You are back to one app per broker for placing orders, with a tracker beside them.

Migration notes

The Roi CSV is not a broker statement. Roi's FAQ called it "your financial data in CSV format" and described no columns beyond telling Monarch users to check for a date and a description; it went to whoever downloaded it before 15 October 2025, and anything left on Roi's servers was due for deletion within 30 days. For a tracker that computes cost basis and returns, fetch the full trade history from each broker instead — see exporting broker trade history and importing a broker CSV into a portfolio tracker.

An account that linked to Roi may not link elsewhere. Roi used Plaid. Wealthfolio and Stock Events go through SnapTrade, Snowball through Yodlee and SnapTrade, Delta through Powens, SnapTrade and eToro, Kubera through several aggregators chosen per institution, and getquin through open-banking connections it documents broker by broker. Check your own brokerage and bank by name on the pick's list before paying for sync.

Know what a chatbot can see and change. Wealthfolio's documentation says a hosted model receives the conversation, your questions and the tool results, though not the raw database, and that a local Ollama model keeps all of it on your machine. Kubera's MCP setup guide, updated 18 October 2026, says the assistant can create and update assets, debts and cash flows, not only read them, so decide what you let it write before you connect it.

Expect the totals to move. A different price source, FX rate and refresh schedule will not reproduce Roi's last number; why your tracker and broker disagree covers which differences are bugs and which are definitions.

FAQ

When exactly did Roi shut down?

Its final day of service was 15 October 2025. Roi posted a shutdown FAQ on 3 October 2025 and replaced its home page with an acquisition notice by that evening, US time, both captured by the Internet Archive, saying it had been acquired by OpenAI and would wind down that month. It stopped taking new subscriptions and kept support open until 31 October 2025.

What happened to my Roi data?

Roi's shutdown FAQ offered a CSV download from inside the app until 15 October 2025 and said all remaining data would be permanently deleted within 30 days of the shutdown. It also said OpenAI would not have access to any of it. If you did not download the file before the app closed, there is nothing left to retrieve; your brokers and banks still hold the underlying history.

Did OpenAI keep the Roi app running?

No. Roi's own notice says the app was wound down as part of the acquisition and names no successor product. The notice, signed by all four of the team, says they were joining OpenAI; TechCrunch reported on 3 October 2025, citing one source, that only the chief executive was, and that terms were not disclosed.

Is there a free app that does what Roi did?

Not one app. getquin links banks and brokers for free but charges for its AI. Delta's free plan syncs brokers, exchanges and wallets with three AI uses a month, capped at 10 assets. Stock Events gives five AI messages a day free for up to 15 stocks without broker sync. Wealthfolio is free with an AI assistant, but you supply the model and broker sync is paid.

Was Roi free?

Roi's own pages disagree. Its home page in August 2025 said in one answer that the app was entirely free and in another that it charged a small subscription fee, while also offering a month free with a promo code. Its help centre, in a copy captured on 10 September 2025, documented a Roi Premium plan billed monthly or annually with a free trial, and the shutdown FAQ refunded Stripe subscriptions and sent Apple subscribers to Apple, so paid plans did exist. We found no primary source stating the price.
